Front9 those AT2s are being discontinued? The coopers I have are on their last leg and need to be changed this week. Was looking at the AT2s as one of my options. Apparently my size tire is odd and or more pricey than most.... 275 65 18?

I have Nitto Terra Grapplers. Probably going to try Toyo Open Country tires next.

I have nitto terra grapplers on now

They have made it 73k miles and have some tread left.

I'm planning to get the KO2's soon though

Costco has good prices on those tires and install

I went from mud grapplers to open country MTs and couldn't be happier. Road noise is non existent compared to the mud grapplers. I'll try and look up exactly how long I've had them, but offhand I'm at 30k+ miles and there's still plenty of tread left

Reading consumer reports for tire advice is kind of insane

Has worked well for me and the problems I've had with tires in the past were reflected in the ratings CR had (noted after replacing said tire)

quote:

It's basically all the same other than aggression and specialty tires.

Not really, CR tests tires in a manner to determine characteristics under certain driving patterns which include wet/dry braking, handling and road noise.

The differences can be significant.

If you follow the manufacturer suggestions and keep the inflation and rotate properly most all tires will make you a good purchase.

In terms of life of the tire and optimal performance for that tire, this is true.

Too many variables and driving condition differences to take someone else's advice on a set of tires

This statement makes no sense at all. You may want to consider the source before taking advice (meaning the OT is not a great source), but taking advice from a source you trust is the best way to decide anything you no little about.

Michelin LTX or Cooper Discovery are the only ones I'd consider
