We checked with our insurance. Didn't make a difference.

Our diving board didn't effect homeowners rates.

Judging by this thread I don't think Chad knows shite about swimming pools.

i didn't say it effects rates. Most companies writing business do not allow them. they would cancel your policy most likely. There is a company or two that offers the exclusion of liability for the entire pool.

The best setup I've seen is shallow on both ends with about a 6.5' deep middle.

Perfect volleyball setup

its all about pool usage. often times at pools, deep ends aren't used much because people don't tend to congregate and use the deep end for mingling and all that jazz. yes deep ends can be useful but if its a party pool, you want a lot of middle depth pool for people to hang out in etc.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there seeing as how we bought our home with pool and diving board. The agent came out inspected everything and wrote us a policy with no issues.

you can disagree all you want. I said "most" not all. What company is it with? sounds like you're with one of these national companies. And also, what kind of agent has to come out to your house to write a policy?

Farm Bureau. All I know is she took some pictures of property and we went on my merry way. I know there are a lot of homes with diving boards and have coverage. Not saying you're wrong but it can be insured.

likely not as many as you think. With some of those national companies you have better shots. With all the companies that are writing in lower la, most of them do not write those risks. There's 1 company willing to exclude the liability. Most homes that put pools in afterwards don't always think of telling their ins. co "hey we put in a diving board" and it may never be an issue until they rewrite somewhere else and have another inspection done.

Nice pool skuter, you mind me asking how much just your pool and surrounding deck ran you? This looks like something I'm wanting for our home.

I thought so too. When we designed our pool, we decided n a sport court pool 3' - 6' - 3'. When we told our 11 yr old daughter , she cried. (Yes, a bit over dramatic but she really was sad about the idea) Turns out, her best friend's pool is a sport court. We went over, tried it out for a few hours. It got boring very quickly. Great for volleyball... Terrible for swimming and having fun.

So we decided on the traditional 3.5' - 7'.

We entertain a lot... 11 and 12 yr old kids prefer the deep end. My 6 yr old prefers the deepend. Hell, I prefer it... I like clowning around with the kids and doing flips off the spa into the deepend.

The thing about pools... Everybody has different tastes. If you're going to build one, design it to your wants.... Yes, wants, because there is no "need" with a pool, it is all about "want".

I don't understand the hate towards diving boards when drowning is the most common accident. Doubt he diving board has much to do with it.

its not hate, its just statistics on injuries. diving boards and slides.... i guess the abundance of claims they used to get tells the tales.

State Farm doesn't charge extra for diving boards.
