Grabbing a table on the front porch of the columns is a pretty cool place for a drink. There's a lot of places like that. I really enjoy the Sazarac at the Roosevelt as well. But I don't know if my wife and I would really be able to make a weekend out of that kind of stuff. That my just be us though.

There is nothing wrong with being touristy and spending an afternoon exploring Jackson Square and the places surrounding it. Same thing with St. Charles and Magazine Street. Pat O's is the cliche' Bourbon St. place to hit up, but like others have said, it never dissapoints.

I don't think you'll find it too difficult to stumble upon interesting places to eat and drink. Ask the concierge at your hotel as well, they can help you out.

Too new, don't eat there until they get another couple months under their belt.

Every time I see a thread about places to eat/drink in Nola it amazes me how terrible some of the suggestions are from people who think they really know. Most of the suggestions in this thread thus far are the same that a jorts wearing tourist from Ohio would suggest.

I don't know why more people don't suggest esplanade to tourist. It's one of the best parts of the city .

I agree. There are so many good places outside the quarter it's ridiculous.

I would suggest renting a bike and riding up esplanade to bayou St. John and into city park and Lakeview. Many places to see and eat.

Head to Frenchmen Street for the live music.

Call Uber and see if they can take you to Visons. That's where the locals go to get their eyes checked.

Why don't you drop some knowledge then instead of bashing other people's suggestions?

Real advice that does not answer your specific question: It will be hot during your trip. Plan as many indoor activities during the day as you can.
