I didn't really care about college and I had my diploma on the wall. Heck, I've had multiple FTA seminar certificates on my office wall at some point.

Framed diploma in office = not trashy at all.
A license plate or bumper sticker like LSU PHD or LSU MBU - trashy as hell.

I'm a liberal, and I think displaying something that others didn't have the same opportunities as you to go to college, is offensive.

Agree, as long as it's in an office setting since you went to school earn that diploma to primarily get a job. I think it would be borderline trashy if it was the showpiece of your living room though.

That's kinda backwards. If it's important to you then keep it to yourself. If other people seeing it is important to you then you should display it.
