I had a tough time getting through LSU, got pretty close to failing out/having to transfer to a smaller school at times through my own faults, but I stuck with it and graduated almost on time. I'm about to get an updated office and have thought about putting it on a shelf. Not going to have a bunch of people sitting in the office to show it off to, just want it there to remind me to keep working. What y'all got, trashy or nah?

Nb4 I graduated to your mom's bedroom

If it is important to you, then you should display it. No one will look twice at it, but every time you do, you will know what mountain you had to climb to earn it.

I don't think it's trashy. I mean it shouldn't be the focal point of your living room, but an office seems like an appropriate place to display it. My mom has mine up in my old room.

Stop worrying about whether other people think something is trashy. If it encourages you and you're proud of it, just do it.

What? Everyone at my office (engineering) has theirs hanging on their wall. This has been the case at all of the firms I've worked at. I can't imagine why you wouldn't display it, assuming it was instrumental in getting you into your position.

Personally, I don't think is cool as a new hire or inside 15-20 years of the workforce. I can't really explain it. It seems those are the years you are out to prove and define yourself outside academics. After about 20 years, the diploma becomes a look-back piece of nostalgia.

ETA: BUT at no time is it "trashy".

Makes for a good conversation piece in office and potentially building rapport with clients

A lot of people at my work have their diplomas and certifications on display in their offices. I don't think it's trashy.

Who cares about a BA from LSU? Maybe if its a PhD or JD or from a good school you could display it.

I have it in my personal office, my dad has it in his, as have any of my bosses that I have been to their office. It's not remotely trashy.
