Also, if you want the longest lasting of any appliance, buy the cheapest unit you can get. last decade's tech was way simpler than what we have now and is easy and cheap to fix.
Upvote.
Buy your appliances from a local retailer who also repairs them. They will steer you towards the most reliable models.

Ended up getting a whirlpool 29 cuft with French doors and bottom freezer. Like the in- door ice maker. I'll bump if I have problems and at tr one year mark. Napoleon, should I get the extended warranty?

Have two Whirlpools. One 8 years and the other 6 years with absolutely no problems.

They delivered our Sub Zero this week for our new house. I can honestly say it's one of the only things that I've ever bought and don't have even a little buyer's remorse over.
It weighs twice as much as a comparable big box store fridge, when you open the doors, you see why. The hinges are massive, even the wheels are retractable to make sure you get it level. You can tell a lot of thought and pride went into making it.
Yeah, it was not cheap, but I think by the looks of it, everything I read was true- it should last a long time.

Well, just c'mon then you can help me change Stacy's lawnmower belt after!
The kitchen was made in hopes you'd come over and cook in it. You know I don't need a damn burner that can go low enough to melt a chocolate bar overnight or whatever the hell they said about it.

Have a frigidaire side by side, only complaint is paint/rusting? Bubble under ice/water dispenser in door. Probably my fault for leaving cubicles on bottom holder of dispenser. Have seen several at friends house that have issues with dispensing ice. Mine does not. Not the top of the line but also not paying top of the line prices. Would purchase again when this one dies.

Do NOT get a Frigidaire.
Electrolux (Frigidaire) is one of the better brands right now in terms of longetivity and day to day use.
ALL the units with Chinese made boards have a potential for problems, but the board used in Frigidaire's is based on their first gen Adaptive defrost control and is far superior than GE(UNLESS you get the ones made by SAMSUNG {look for a circular panel in back of fridge = samsung made).
You want a fridge to last 15 years, get you the cheapy timer controlled unit. You want to look like George Jetson? get the LCD fridges for $899-1500 but BE prepared to spend at least $500 in repair costs in the next seven years.
If you want a unit to give your grandkids, get a Subzero or Viking.

depends on price.
Generally with the warranty they make you pay a service fee anyway (depends on warranty company)
then the warranty covers the parts and labor.
It isn't bad unless it's really expensive.
Also NEVER use a GFCI outlet with any appliance that has a resistance element (elec dryers, ovens, toasters, automatic defrost fridges, dishwashers, pretty much all appliances) BUT you SHOULD use a surge protector with ANY appliance that has a circuit board.
I would say the majority of our board changes are from surges. A simple $15 surge protector could save hundreds down the line.

Boy they are heavy. Took four of us to move mine in.
I have two commercial True fridges in my garage. Each as tall as the sub (not as wide) but each about 250#s less than the Sub.
The insulation is top notch and the build quality is outstanding.

common issue among all brand that use ferrous metal in the door (many have gone to all stainless)
Not much you can do. But also place a cup in the door for a few days and see if you have a slow drip. This would be signs of mineral build up in the solenoid and can cause the rusting issue to accelerate.

Napolean,
The whirlpool a bought seems a bit loud. Is this common?
