I'm getting tired of dealing with the national pharmacies (CVS Walgreens Walmart etc.) and am thinking of switching to the local mom and pop joint. Any thoughts/opinions on this?

Why are you tired of national pharmacies?

I work for one. I highly recommend it. Usually home deliver and stuff like that.

Local all the way. Called my local and told them I was going to have trouble getting there before they close so he dropped at my house on his way home.

Last year a relative was released from the hospital at 10 PM with a prescription she needed right away. The pharmacist, a family friend, met us at his store to fill the prescription.

CVS is open on Sundays.I get Xanax there for that reason and Phenergan there because they carry the brand that works.

I get my other 7 prescriptions at the Mom and Pop.Very personalized service.

They have helped me out of a jam,medication-wise,more than once.

I occasionally have to get medication while on trips (insulin). Using Walgreens or CVS makes this very easy. Either can transfer the prescription from the other store so can use either one without problem. I cannot say that this can't be done if prescription is at a local mom & pop, maybe someone here can answer.

I'm about to switch to local since CVS shorted me on seizure meds and wouldn't come up with the missing stuff until my Dr called. Their hours are also only 9-8. Walgreens by me is slower than Popeyes on Staring, so that's out

The wife works for a Mom and Pop Rx. At one time, I had to buy my stuff at CVS. Was apita.

The good side of M&P stores is that they will work with you.

Any script except certain controlled substances can be transferred at least once. Lesser controlled substances can be transferred just once.

Insulin, etc. can be transferred indefinitely. That said, its certainly easier for pharmacies all of the same system to fill at multiple locations since that process is more streamlined for them.

Never had an issue with Walgreens. Not to mention....their rewards plan is great if you shop there enough. I easily rack up about $50 in points to spend there every 2-3months just by filling my prescriptions there and buying stuff like cheap cosmetics, toiletries, OTC meds, etc from there.
