They build a Johnny's Pizza in Vidalia and all of the residents cum in their pants thinking they have a booming town.
Didn't they have Johnny's Pizza in the 90's there? But, Vidalia is actually trying to get some growth going. Building a small port to try and attract new businesses, has it's own hydroelectric plant, developed their riverfront, etc.. For being a shite place they are sure putting up a good fight.

Not to mention, the proximity of the port is too far from Baton Rouge. Isn't Baton Rouge the cutoff port for large capacity freight vessels?

Yup. That's actually where my kids go. I went there some when it was Huntington.

Yeah. And it's in practically the same exact spot.

It is a faux private school for all the people pretending to be better than they are. I don't know why they just don't send their kids to a real private school....except to have taxpayers pay for their kids private school education.
It was meant to help Ferriday kids who want better to have a place to go to school. Now it is just bleeding Vidalia dry of its decent students. So, now all of the schools in the parish will turn to crap.

I believe so but the river is still very busy with barges. They can get plenty of raw materials up there.

Thank you, yes. And I think someone needs to understand the difference between "booming" and "growing". Vidalia is and has been very aggressive on trying to get businesses and plants in town since IP shut down. NAFTA hasn't made it easy, just like in other small towns in the US. The fruit of the loom plant is a skeleton of what it was promised, but the ports coming along, the rubber plant is doing good, ALCOA (or BASF, rather) is doing good, and Vidalia is seeing businesses slowly move in. Our PD is top knotch, and recreation is on point. Great lil town to live in and raise a family.

100% Serious. Other posters take note if passing through or visiting.
The Butt Hutt Brisket salad for $10.99 is the absolute best girly salad a big hungry man could ever ask for. It's delicious and easily two meals. .

Um, You have ACCS, Cathedral, and Trinity.
I have two at Cathedral and very happy with it, but if you have money and are agnostic, why force religion down kids' throats?

When the Vidalia schools go to crap because of Delta Charter (in Ferriday) it won't be a great place to live and raise a family. These places thrive on decent schools.

I stayed in a B&B there for a weekend get away and we had a really good time. I wish they had better restaurants. They did have good delta style tamales, but we kept striking out for dinners.
Lots of neat pre-civil war buildings and plantations.

Haha. Yea they did well with Cotton Alley. They had Center Street Grill after they left Pearl Street.
G is a GREAT chef. And D, well he's just special and the old ladies just LOVE him.

It's a mosquito infested swamp to where their logo is "Come see our past slavery!" Do you really not fathom why it's not a popular tourist spot?

Where were you eating for dinner? I'm shocked that anyone can go to Natchez and not leave fat and happy.
I'd recommend any of Cotton Alley, Magnolia Grill, the Camp, Pig Out Inn, Pearl Street Pasta, the Castle (if you're feeling spendy), Biscuits & Blues, Rolling River Bistro is alright, and even Roux 61 if you just wanted a chain Delta food experience.
Edit: And Jug Heads.

As part of the Ayurvedic program, an intern can include ayurvedic herbs, aromatherapy, color therapy, sound and mantra, and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy. This is is the best of preventative health care! For those who have a specific condition and are looking for clinical management through Ayurvedic Medicine, they should consider having a consultation with an Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist intern or graduate.

Something often lost about the connection between Natchez and Baton Rouge is Galvez.
He lived in Ft Rosalie(right on the Bluff downtown Natchez). He was the Spanish governor of the entire area and is the namesake of our own Galvez Plaza in downtown BR.
Sidenote of interest is Galvez Town is also named after him. And when that settlement began to fail, the settlers moved to what's now....... SPANISH TOWN.
Enjoy that nugget of Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

n 1777, he was sent to Louisiana, as a colonel and interim governor of the province. This was the vast territory that later became the object of the Louisiana Purchase. It had been ceded by France to Spain in 1763, ostensibly as compensation for the loss of Florida to Britain, when Spain was urged late in the Seven Years' War to enter into battle on the French side. In 1779, he was promoted to brigadier. In 1777, Gálvez married Marie-Félicité de Saint-Maxent d'Estrehan, a young widow whose first husband was a son of Jean-Baptiste d'Estrehan. They had three children, Miguel, Matilde, and Guadalupe. He practiced an anti-British policy as governor, taking measures against British smuggling and promoting trade with France. He also established free trade with Cuba and Yucatán. He founded Galvez Town, in 1779, and promoted colonization of Nueva Iberia.
