Why MUST they leave room for the bike lane?
Why not leave it two lanes on each side, and put a fricking bike path on the Neutral Ground?

That would be IDIOTIC! Add the bike lane, shrink the neutral ground, and move on. It's not like the neutral ground is only going to be 5' wide. It'll still be as big as the St. Charles neutral ground.

It's hilarious to watch people freak out about that lane. No one Herr understands bike lanes.

Because I drive Napoleon from Claiborne to Tchoup several times a week and it would take forever with only 2 lanes. Not to mention your idea of going from 2 lanes to 1 lane would create the same cluster frick that is at Louisiana where St. Charles goes from 2 lanes to 1.

It only seems like this now because of construction and lane shifts.

Another cluster frick due to construction and lane shifts. Before all that work started, it was never that bad IMO.

I remember it being 2 lanes and having to go around people all the time b/c idiots (just like on St. Charles) think the speed limit is 25 instead of 35

shite happens. That's not a reason to have a road be needlessly wider than the traffic calls for.

Roads aren't designed to have capacity to handle rush hour traffic. That's very impractical.

Agree to disagree. St. Charles should be 2 lanes the whole way and so should Napoleon.

In a fantasy land where money is no object, a lot of roads could be wider.

Because Napoleon is the only street in all of uptown.

Why get rid of the only 4 lane road uptown that goes from north to south?

I live near the construction and can honestly say that I have never been in what I would call bad traffic on Napoleon during the whole construction project. I see no need for two lanes..

One lane from Tchoup to St. Charles would be fine. Marengo and Valence can handle a little extra traffic. Traffic uptown is basically non-existent. Pussies.
