Sounds like you got a small leak somewhere.

Thanks. Looks like my pressure is in range. I did just find out that there a Condenser unit recall for 2018 Subaru Foresters (wife's car). Going to see if I can find if it's eligible tomorrow. I guess either her car didn't have this condenser kit or she ignored the recall notices.

eta: Update from what I found from some more digging. Still need to check the part/lot # on the condenser.

But it seems like a very common problem with this model is too much space in between the clutch plate and the pulley system. So at high speeds/rpms the magnetic force isn't strong enough to engage the compressor clutch. Simple fix by pulling the plate off and removing a shim/spacer.

Trying to exhaust all my options before forking over $ for a compressor replacement. Compressor works fine when the clutch is engaged, so I really don't think it's a compressor issue.

If the clutch is not pulling in, you can replace just the clutch. Did a few years ago, on the wife’s Odyssey

Mechanic said I have to replace the radiator, condenser fan, radiator hoses, and do evaporator recharge for $1K.

That sucks, cheaper than a new car!

Get the parts from Rock Auto, change those out yourself and save $500 or so bucks.

ETA: None of those parts would let freon out of the evaporator so why recharge it?

I would get a second opinion. If you have a freon leak none of the above addresses that issue. A freon recharge may be a temporary fix.

I just assumed it was a Freon leak because I replaced the ac compressor and condenser but he said they couldn’t find a leak. He said there was a crack in the radiator and a small coolant leak and the condenser fan was not even working.

You could pay him $150ish to recharge the system and see what happens. It may or may not get you by until the end of summer.
