The interstates are smooth which is all that matters for perception since that's mostly on what people from out of state drive. Plus the extensiveness of the Texas interstate system is second to none.

It's amazing what revenue and an endless supply of Mexicans can do.

Last time I drove I-55 the road was terrible from the LA border to Jackson.

casinos

The only really nice Casino in Mississippi is Beau. Unfortunately it is also the nicest building in the state. Jimmy Buffet only through up a metal shed in Mississippi for his casino and he is already closing it.

Kind of a random jump to go from Mississippi to Alaska. You could have stayed closer to home and used a couple of other 3 or so hour drives.. such as I-65 from Mobile to Montgomery or I-10 from Pensacola to Tallahassee. Both are gun to the head boring.

Completely disagree. The interstates/freeways are better than any place I've lived in Louisiana.

And the service streets are exponentially better than the roads in Louisiana

Funny just got back from Eastern Tennessee.
Went through Georgia and Alabama where the roads were a lot worse than I-10 in Louisiana.
I do give it to Mississippi they do keep up their roads better than Louisiana, Alabama, and Georgia.

All these states Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi had spotty road work close together.

Reb13 sounds like a winey baby who never been on road trips before.

you have no idea

moving to texas and seeing efficient, quick road repair is incredible. so many roads were built with future repairs in mind, so they can close certain areas or lanes with minimal if any traffic disruption. it's not a perfect system, but you can tell they gave it thought and weren't lazy.

Where does Mississippi get its construction workers from? Ole Miss or Miss State?

5. The boot of Louisiana is longer than it looks, felt like it took forever to get out of. That's about it, didn't stop anywhere but to get gas. Does anyone else feel like the Louisiana DOT is full of idiots?

I was born, raised and have lived here over 40 years - I can't find significant disagreement with your post.

This. What's even worse is that boudin isn't even that good.

I didn't think it was physically possible to find a more boring stretch of interstate in the Eastern U.S than Mobile to Montgomery. I was wrong. The stretch from just north of Lafayette to Shreveport is even longer and even more boring if that's possible.

I-65 through Indiana absolutely blows. A straight line with no scenery unless you like farmland and several billboards

I dread this area every time I head that direction. Plus, there's only like 10 exits for the whole ~150 mile stretch.

Pretty crazy to think that casino was supposed to be a billion dollar project on the beach front that fell through. The license goes to some other dudes who throw up a shack on the back bay and it closes within a few years. Fallen far.

That stretch of 65 is just the worst. It's a little faster to Atlanta from BR to take 65 but I'll rather take 20/59 because there's way more towns through Mississippi and Alabama. I'll even risk driving on the death stretch east of Birmingham to avoid 65. (That last part is tongue and cheek.)

The only reason boudin is popular is because it is the "Sausage of Louisiana" and we are known for our food.

Conecuh tastes a lot better
