Titus

Had been many years ago so I was not certain.

I even use flomax when I am going through a bad spell with stones. Flo max, anti inflammatories, anything that might help.

I have tried most any home remedies you can find. But often it just requires a narcotic. I don't like taking them but sometimes I have begged for them. Lol.

I've had two, and both caused tremendous amounts of pain. The first one I had was when I was 21. I woke up around 5am to take a piss then the pain hit. I was curled up in bed in a fetal position moaning like a bitch. I've never felt so much pain in my life. Told my mom to take me to the ER and she thought I was joking. She asked me on a scale of 1-10 and I said 15 and to get her arse out of bed. Needless to say it got her attention.

Got to the ER and they gave me a load of morphine. They did not warn me and I nearly fell out of the hospital bed. I had blood present in my urine as well. The nurse thought I had a twisted testicle and to prepare for emergency surgery...I then had an ultrasound and a CT scan. Worse thing about the ultrasound was it must have been intern day at the hospital or some shite. I had about 9 people (men and women) surrounding me during the ultrasound feeling on my junk and shite. I was so fricked up from morphine that I didn't give a shite. Needless to say they discovered it was a kidney stone. I passed it the next day. It was about the size of a BB and looked like a spiked ball in a chain. Freaky looking....

Worse pain I've ever felt in my life. It will bring anyone to their knees.

When you are in that kind of pain or in that strong of meds modesty is no longer a concern. Lol

Never heard of that griswold.

Apparently not many people have, my urologist included. It would be a pretty shitty couple of weeks if I didn't have them. Bad news is I have to lay off of them several days before my next procedure because they thin the blood. But I will be back on them post procedure, hopefully will help with the pissing razor blade thing.

Fwiw

My stones are calcium oxolates.(sp?)

Oxolates are small crystalline plant strucres for defense against insects. I am to reduce high oxolate foods. Nuts, okra, blueberries, tea etc.

I am also supposed to take potassium citrate pills daily. Big chalky horse pill that I choke on. Almost impossible for me to take them and can't cut them as they are time release I think.

After having a lithotripsy the staff in the recovery room called my wife in my room to let her know I was out and would be in the room shortly.

Wife said she could hear someone talking and others rolling in laughter. Nurse told her that was me making everyone laugh.

I have zero recollection of anything and to this day I have been afraid to ask what I was saying.

There was a really attractive nurse that seemed to avoid me after that day. I don't know if she was working that day but I suspect she was and I also suspect I may have expressed some inappropriate sentiments in my state. Lol

Man, at this point I think I'd do just about anything to stop this from happening again. Funny thing is i drank Diet Coke like crazy for about 20 years and never had a stone. A few years ago I switched to drinking only water and this shite happens.

The article I read said the pills were no good, has to be in the butt, Lol, never thought I'd look forward to having to put stuff in my butt.
The Suppository form of this apparently isn't available through normal channels. I had to have them made at an Apothecary pharmacy.

Yeah I don't need them for kidney stones though, thank god.

But yeah, the rectum provides a higher absorption rate for most medications compared to oral.

That's why you hear of people "plugging" pills, ecstacy, etc , to get fricked up. I've never been that hard up for a buzz.

I don't believe I've ever had toradol in any shape, form, or fashion.

Unless it was given to me by paramedics or in the ER after a wreck or something without my knowledge.

Exactly what 777 said. If you've never seen a stone, it looks like a meteorite. Bleeding is not abnormal. I've had two and it is worse than death. It is also treated as a true emergency in the E.R. Pretty much go to front of the line. Good luck and Godspeed.

Have passed four in the last three years after never having had one, wondered if it were appendicitis at first. And some Leftover Percs from the Dentist doesn't do much for the pain. It takes the Morphine or Dilaudid drip at the ER to bring relief. Ask your Doctor about Ketorolac/Toradol, they do a better job of hitting the receptors in the back/kidney area for me, and aren't an opiate..win/win.

I have a relatively high threshold for pain, and am getting used to the experience unfortunately, but the first two times were just daggers and and tumbling pine cones from within. Cold sweats from head to toe. Passed one stone without going to ER, using a few Percs, was a miserable three to four hours.

Gonna have to find what is causing them, whether Calcium Oxalate, Struvite, Cystine, etc..alter your diet and water intake.

A shitty club you have joined..hope you don't become a habitual stone maker.

Ask about a lithotripsy. They shoot a lazer into you, and break up the stone.
