Dogs like to go into the woods and die alone.

I'm prob going to do this when my times up. I think it's a good plan.

As hard as it is, put her down. I had a dog that developed cancer in her neck and mouth that I loved like a child but I refused to let her suffer. If there's no chance of a cure or surgery to help, you gotta do what ya gotta do.

Call vet see if they will give you something Besides Benadryl.

The Vet should of definitely gave you something a lot stronger than Benadryl if the dog is in that much pain.

Hard to let them go, but it definitely sounds like it is time.

Why did you go to the ER to have someone clean your wound?

They would have stitched it up but they were afraid of trapping bacteria in there, i.e. infection.

From reading your post and the fact that your dog bit you, it's time to either medicate the dog until your parents get home or put her down now, waiting until tomorrow is just wrong she is suffering so please take care of this now, it's not gonna get better man it's gonna get worse, you owe it to your dog if you really love her to do what's right.Sorry to see you go through this, but it's time man.

I would give your dog whatever dose is allowed for thunderstorms, if it were me I would double it. Pain causes anxiety and panting in dogs.
You may not be able to pill the dog at this point, you could smash it and mix it with small amount water and use syringe to squirt in mouth. Warning the taste is horrible though this way and may really piss dog off.

Last night was horrible. She didn't seem in pain, but she just couldn't relax. This morning I finally managed to get to lie down on her bed and I lied down with her for as long as I could. Once my parents got back home, we took her to the vet around 11 a.m.

I was prepared to euthanize her, but my parents opted to hospitalize her over night. I didn't totally agree with it, but it seems like they needed a night to process all of this. At least she will be more comfortable in the hospital since she'll be getting pain meds, fluids, etc. They are giving her steroids to try and arrest the tumor. It'll probably only be one night as I don't expect her to get better.

I just went to visiting hours and I feel so bad that she's in the hospital and not at home. I just hope she's more comfortable. I just sat down with my parents and told them that, barring some miracle, she needs to be put down tomorrow.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

TL;DR: I was prepared to put her down today, but parents opted to hospitalize her one night. She'll probably be put down tomorrow. Poor girl.

Yeah I know what you mean. I'm feeling the same way. Unfortunately, my dad felt differently. He handles things in his own way I guess.

The only consolation I get from from her being hospitalized is that she is probably more comfortable there than at home because she can get the proper meds and IV's. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Yeah I was updating the thread I started late last night. It's an odd coincidence there are two of these.

ETA: I'm not trying to steal attention away from the other thread. Just updating anyone from last night that cared.

Last time i checked neither Old Yeller nor To Kill A Mockingbird are comedies, Kafka. I thought you of all people would know that. They are about life. And in life there are harsh realities. You can accept them or hide from them, but they do not go away. The faster you learn to accept and deal with these realities the better person you will be.
