My dog bit me and broke the skin today (EDIT: pic in OP)

I was getting ready for work. I wake up modestly early. Between 6-7 am most days. We the let the dog sleep with us in bed at night so when I get up, he is still in bed with my sleeping wife. I usually wake up, drink coffee, shave, get dressed and then come back to kiss my wife good bye for the day. He usually gets very growlie and barks occasionally when I come back to kiss my wife good bye. I chalk this up to him not recognizing me and it being slightly dark. Recently, he has jumped off the bed charging and barking at me before I even make it in the bedroom door. This morning, I was coming back into the room when he lept off the bed barking at me. I tried to reach for and grab his snout and missed and he sunk his teeth into my right index finger. We assessed the wound and figured I didn't need stitches, but their was bleeding, 3 puncture wounds and it feels like my finger got slammed in a door. I have lived with two other dogs in my life. None have ever bitten me and punctured the skin. He is around 48 lbs and is a mix of daschungde, Labrador, and beagle and is a little over 16 months old.
I feel a lot of things - mostly angry, upset and hurt that he did this. We have spoiled him a good bit and he is well taken care of.
What says the OT
EDIT: Here is a picture of the perpetrator

He's got a taste blood now. He can still be of use but only for defense or vengeance.

Next he's gonna bang your wife. If he isn't already.

Have you noticed a rapidly dwindling supply of peanut butter in your house lately?

That sounds like a legit issue, not some "doesn't recognize me" thing.
I've heard of people having to put dogs down where they begin to get aggressive over their charge (farm animals) with their master (people). Not saying that is a real issue here, but you probably need to make some changes to realign that dog's loyalties.

Damn, I'm going to give a serious answer.
Since you let the dog sleep in bed with you, it thinks it is at least equal with you and the wife. Him protecting the wife and going after you makes me think that your dog believes he is the alpha of the family. You and the dog need training. The dog needs training so it won't be aggressive toward you. You need training so you know how to take control back from the dog.
PS - and yes, the other posters are correct. Your dog is banging your wife.

Dogs like this feel the need to protect those they feel are in a vulnerable state, ie sleeping. They protect no matter who it is that comes near, friend or not.
The bigger issue here is that he for has escalated his aggression. I would seek some type of professional to help with breaking the habit. It won't get better on it's own.

When you're home in the evenings roll him on his back and pin him. If he tries to bite you, beat him. I've never had an aggressive dog because as soon as I get them as puppies, they understand through training who the alpha is.
Stop being a cuck and punch him in the snout if snaps again. Also, quit letting your filthy dog sleep in the bed with you. Put his bed near if you must have him in the room. You're essentially letting him know that you two are equal in the relationship.

You can never let a dog get "very growlie" when you come near a family member. When you didn't address it immediately, you created a problem.
I love dogs, but if I had a dog that bit me in aggression, it would be gone.
Immediately.
