If this child gets all A’s in spite of being raised by trashy wolves, she will be fine without your hesitant input.

No need to involve family. He should correct himself and apologize, though he likely won’t. He may speak negatively of you. You’ll have to make decision about that.

That's really fricked up. He has zero standing to promise YOUR money to someone else. The amount makes it even more trashy. My parents reward my kids for good quarter grades (usually $100 each.) They started it on their own and I never would've asked them to do so. My in-laws don't give them a damn thing other than Christmas, Birthdays, and for doing manual labor at their house.

Tell your brother you'll match every dollar he gives her up to $1000.

IDK. If you have the ability to help your family, it’s not a bad thing.

If you want to encourage the kid, do so. Maybe set up a deal with her through high school.

$5-$10 per A and half for B’s in each report card.

Good grades now will have a huge impact on her life.

But your brother needs to mind his own business and not set you up to be the bad guy. You sound like a greedy but believe you are generous person.

Instead of cash, take her and one of her friends with you on a really nice vacation, somewhere she would not normally get to go. Yosemite, the Keys, some place like that. Those memories will last far longer than the money.

Yeah i wouldn’t give her a grand. I’d happily give her something, I’m all for showing kids that working hard = rewards, but a stack is too much.
