I think it's just cheap pizza. I haven't eaten there. But pizza is one of those things where sometimes cheap hits the spot better. I haven't tried Fleur de Lis either, but I get the impression that it is the same. Red Zeppelin is actually pretty legit somewhat higher quality pizza. I think I'm going to try one of the ones listed in this thread today. Try to aim for a little higher quality.

Mr. Gatti's at lsu was the best. I ate there 2-3 times a week during my first year of undergrad. It was so cheap and filling.

Arzi's was great too

No shite. Is THAT why I've seen them in other cities?! Well I'll...be...damned...

You sound like a fun guy at parties.

Mr. Gatti's done right is awesome - I still don't understand how the one in Shreveport went under. It was always busy.

Shreveport lost Jack in the Box, Schlotzksy's, and Gatti's.

Guess who used to visit Mr. Gatti's right off campus in the mid 90s?

He had to eat some good pizza for while learning under Tepper.

Can't comment on BR, but in Hammond it's Tommy's Pizza, hands down.

LIT pizza has been the best, most convenient and reasonably priced pizza for me. Place makes a damn good pizza.

Was that the place at the corner of Chimes and Lake, across from Gatti's? Two stories, glassed in, had video games on the bottom floor. It was open in the early 90?

Or was that the place on Staring, real close to Perkins? Also open in the early 90s. It was the first non-chain pizza place I patronized (all that was around me when I was a kid was Pizza Hut, Gatti's, Godfather's and Sbarro's)

The pizza there is OK. It's better than Cici's by far. Heck, it's better than Pappa John's. About once a year or so I'll hit the place and gorge myself on cheap pizza. It's just kind of depressing going to Gatti's -- one of the last times I went, it was all guys in there, all eating by themselves.

Saw the GOAT of fights at the Gattis on Essen near the old theatre in the late 80s. Some patron got refused beer and started a brawl with the register chick. Salad bar items started getting thrown and dressing was flying everywhere. Awesome.

That said, I can eat Fleur de Lis until I explode. Just love the stuff. Gattis a close 2nd.

Papa Johns gives me the screamin' sheets.
