My old man has been there for 30+ years and would agree with pretty much all of this. If he wasn't as close as he is to retiring, he would have left already.

Edited since you edited yours.

Haven't heard that lately. Will have to ask someone I know who is in with the Chamber of Commerce if that is in the pipeline.

I know there is a ton of development happening at Americana but only the Y and Walkons are open as of now. The new buildings in progress clearly aren't theaters though.

FWIW, my Mom has been doing a lot of back and forth lately between Prairieville and Baker, and she says it's far easier to go the back way via Port Vincent/4-H Club Road/Magnolia Bridge.

I live in Prairieville and drive to BR everyday, but would dread that drive to GP from home.

Pick a location based upon your leisure activities and one that keeps your wife happy. Nothing worse than a pissed wife coming home due to traffic you could not control.

Wait, Weights, were you the one with the awesome run down on meals you and the wife had while I'm Vegas on the Travel Board ???

One of the top food cities in the US and you are eating at Sirrico's Pizza, IN $ Out Burger, Rainforest Cafe, and Taco Bell

I think most would take a hard pass on getting food recommendation advice from you anyway Weights

Traffic from Zachary to downtown is fairly swift.

If she is working in SEBR, she may have a long but leisurely drive in since traffic is typically heading the opposite way.

Just be sure to have alternate routes in mind if the MRB backs up.

ideally get a house in southdowns kind of by trader joes. you could zip up to zach area easily and she could get to her job fairly easy. but sounds like you want to be able to send your kids to public school so that maybe the deal breaker.

If I ever need a tie breaker I always use closer to work. However I am not a fan of that area, just so boring.

It was first time in Vegas and her third
I just went wherever she led me to

I can take the hit though
I wanted to go to other food places.... next time

But I recommend staying long enough to keep a sign-on bonus 1 year and 3 years for vesting.

Don't blame him. The good people around there and the 401k + 3% pension tacked were what kept/keeps alot people with 20-30 years hanging around.

That said, I would live in Zachary in a heartbeat. Americana is looking good. The section 8 shite going up across 64 wouldn't worry me at all. But I'm Not racist.

Personally, I would look for an older well-built house in Fennwood.

1 and 3 years weights. remember that.

I mean what is there to do in BR really? I guess its subjective. BR has the mall of LA (I used to live 5mins away and went maybe once a year), has movie theaters (im not much a movie guy), it does have a lot of food choices (but I like to cook).

Moved a little further up than zach and couldnt be happier. Have a lot of land and a pond. Can shoot, fish, hunt whenever I want. Kids arent glued to the ipad and tv they actually WANT to go outside and play.

Yeah, She is already complaining either way about the traffic because, right now, we live 5 minutes from her office

Come up to Z-Town! We have a brand spanking new Captain D’s opening next Wednesday! Does Prairieville have one? I think NOT!

I've heard that GP is the absolute worst company to work for around here. There's around a 37% suicide rate for employees.

Congrats on the new job!

Wait a year or 2. You may hate working for GP. They do have a huge workforce turnover. Time is on your side.

are you married to a 3rd grader? Taco ball?? Sirrico's Pizza??? Rainforest Cafe ????

Bigger man than I, no way I'm wasting a trip to Vegas. Could have saved money and brought her to Kenner and Metairie.

I think we've already reached the point of so many people moving to Ascension that it defeats the purpose of moving here.
