…to the Shenandoah valley in VA.
Insurance going down 70%. Sales tax cut in half. Violent crime almost non existent. Smooth roads. Lots of things to do. Mountains, beaches, four seasons where we are at. No hurricanes or ball melting humidity 60% or the year (it’s 70 degrees right now and I feel like I’m in Southern California). Can actually send our kids to Public school. Income tax is up very slightly. Property tax rate up slightly but our home value is lower than in Orleans parish so the actual is lower.
For now as well the politicians in this neck of the woods are all god fearing and American loving as well. I feel like a new man.
ETA: should add I am originally from where we moved to. The SO is from LA. I spent about 10 years in the state and really enjoyed so much of it but it became too much with all the reasons listed above being major factors and easy to improve with a simple move.

You're doing it right. Can't wait until I can say the exact same thing. Just have to survive long enough.

Good for you and your family. I moved out of LA last year and it's been one of the best decisions I've made. I had to go back for a wedding last weekend and was quickly reminded why I left. Have to take my vehicle in for a realignment after driving on 3rd world roads.

That is such a beautiful area. You have Charlottesville and Roanoke fairly close by. Tons of hiking, seasons, and nature. Also, DC is just a couple hour drive away.

Congratulations. I hope you and your family will be very happy in your new home.

That’s baw country for sure, with some scattered hippies. A good friend of mine moved to Strasburg and they love it there.

Welcome to the club
You will miss family, Friends and fishing but you will not regret it 10 years from now. When you go back to visit your eyes will be opened to the dysfunction that has made La. last in most categories in the U.S.

Nice area. Winters are going to suck, though.

Are you near Sperryville? I love that little town. Get a reservation at Three Blacksmiths if you can.
