Leave her with the kids and bring all your car keys.

You might as well get over it . My In Law is a lazy arse. Will come and stay a week at a time every other month sometimes longer and doesn't do shite but leave her crap where ever she sets it. Doesn't offer to help my wife clean or anything but eat and mess with her lap top. She is here to spend time with the grand kids but I know she comes to my house because of my wifi . They live in country and don't have high speed internet. It use to piss me off now I just tell my wife that is yo momma you clean up her shite.

ine graces us with her majestic presence a few times a year. We have young kids who still take naps during the day. During nap time we usually have to keep quite and sometimes lay down with them. Every time she comes, she immediately takes my wife's car during nap time and comes back two hours later making all sorts if noise and wakes the kids up. Shouldn't she be willing to stay around and help with the kids and house work since we could use some help and only see her a few times a tear?

Do I have a reason to be angry?

sounds like my MIL

I feel bad for you. My MIL is actually pleasant and nice to be around.

Now my poor older brother. His MIL will roll into town and not leave for 1 - 3 fricking Months That poor bastard is fit to be tied by the time she leaves.

It's your child. Maybe she is there to visit and not just do your job.

How does your wife feel about her mother not helping out with the kids/house?

I think you have a right to be annoyed. What grandmother doesn't help out with the grand kids, cooking, cleaning, at least something?

You whine about her not cleaning YOUR house and picking up food spilled by YOUR kids, yet you say you don't expect help?

I let my 4 year old take a nice 2 hour nap if we've been active but my 7 (almost 8) year old I don't make him take one. The four year old is a bitch to put down though and I would be super pissed if someone woke him up after all the work that goes into getting him to sleep

They're already taking control. Put them in bed and leave.

I'm thinking he needs a strong show of dominance, maybe taking a piss on her bed while she's on her trip might take her down a notch

2 hour nap sounds long enough. She probably wakes them up on purpose so she can visit with them. Just try to be nice.

Clearly you don't have kids

Nap time is golden. Golden, my friend. One, you never wake a child from their nap. Let them sleep for gods sake no matter how long it is. If they are sleeping a lot it means they needed the rest. And if they need the rest, I can promise you the parents need it more. Nap time is a time for mommies and daddies to clean up, rest, and get some lovin also. There is nothing worse than a houseguest during nap time.

To the op, Encourage the mil to leave and shop and take her time during nap time. However, put your foot down about coming back and causing such a ruckus that the kids wake up. That is unacceptable.

I have unplugged my doorbell because of a similar situation like this before. Who I. The hell rings a doorbell of a home that they know has young kids and are well aware that it's nap time? This happened twice before I unplugged the doorbell.
