Nassau to Eleuthera. 14 passenger prop plane on Bahamas Air, 18 minute flight through a storm that delayed us from taking off. The plane dropped probably 5 times and it felt like we were fish tailing. People were freaking out, screaming, praying, and getting sick. Most scared I've ever been

Delta flight approaching Syracuse, NY. the flight attendants were on their hands and knees and shoving dinner trays on the floor back to the galley.

I am hating this thread. The more I fly for work, the more I hate it. Anyway, flew on the company jet (seats about 16) from Naples to New Jersey. About 45 minutes outside of Jersey, we hit a winter storm. I swear no one said a word for the duration. As one poster said, we were actually flying sideways, similar to hydroplaning in a car. I asked the pilot if he enjoyed navigating in that kind of weather, and he said it was mostly annoying.

Took a puddle jumper from Baltimore to Newark . Flew right into a thunderstorm I thought for sure I would die. My brother and I kept on clowning each other knowing we was both scared shitless. It made it worse when the sixty year old stewardess who has been flying for so long she was an original member of the mile high club, looked at me holding the seats to steady herself and says" that's not supposed to happen"

Am I the only one who experiences that weird stomach feeling that you get on rollercoasters -- but in your butthole? Only happens on a plane.

Thank God. Wasn't sure if it was some sort of gay thing.

Most Turbulent Flight You've Experienced?

I have experienced 2 plane rides (Chicago to Houston and San Antonio to Houston twice in one setting) where our plane was hit by lightning and all passengers on the plane, including me, could certainly tell. Extremely loud bangs followed by a sudden drop in altitude. Not a very comforting feeling.

Hardest landing I ever felt was touching down in Corpus Christi. Our back end slammed into the ground. Flight attendant gets on the mic and says, "Ladies and gentlemen, as a flight attendant I want to let you know that it wasn't our fault. And the pilots have informed me that it wasn't their fault." It appears to have been the asphalt."

flew the last flight out from Austin to Jackson MS during hurricane rita. Brings tears to my eyes ten years later. Eerily quiet/all flight attendants buckled for duration/hardly any passengers/my friend sat on opposite side of plane and way in front compared to me (she said if it went down maybe one of us would survive).

My first ever flight was Birmingham to Vegas. Went perfect.

Then my second flight was 4 hours later, Vegas to Honolulu.

It starts getting a little turbulent, it wasn't so bad.

Then pilot comes on the radio, "we're going to be experiences some.....more than moderate turbulence for the duration of the flight."

Pretty much went like this the entire flight.

The flight back from Vegas to Birmingham was the same. Landing felt like the crosswind video previously posted. I was looking out the window at the ground, the plane bounced and suddenly the ground was closer. I stopped looking and started holding on. Everyone clapped when we landed safely, haven't flown since.

Houston to New Orleans.
Pilot tried to land in a thunderstorm and we go pretty low and he aborted the landing. Then he tells us it was "pretty nasty" down there, but we were going to try again. Southwest pilot along for the ride sitting next to me, just shakes his head and laughs.

We descend and abort the landing a second time and end up landing in Jackson. I rented a car and drove back from there. I have flew many times since without issue.

This. Turbo prop from dallas to btr 2001. I held on to cup but ice went to ceiling and back down. Grown men screaming like we were in a death spiral.

About 15 years ago on a flight from Dallas to Shreveport. Plane bouncing, lightning flashing, women screaming and I'm gripping the hand rest. I had a little talk. I said "If you get me off this plane I will never ride another plane ever again." We have both lived up to that end of the deal.

Cancun > Houston. Flew through a storm cell. If it weren’t for the seat belts, lots of people would’ve hit their head on the overhead bins. Plane was rocking left and right and jumping up and down at the same time. Topped it off with a light flicker. Heard lots of praying, including a Hail Mary. Turbulence lasted like 20 minutes but it felt like 20 hours. Pilot was a female, not that there’s anything wrong with that . First and only time for me I have seen a landing get a raucous ovation. Flight was early too and I remember thinking how much I would have rather it just been delayed. I had my eyes shut squeezing the arm rests.

Have a good friend (LSU alum) that pulled an all nighter in Brazil this past year for the World Cup before his early flight. They hit bad turbulence just as his hangover started to hit and he needed to puke. Got up to run to the bathroom and the drink cart was blocking him. He threw up in the drink cart waste basket standing up in the aisle in front of everyone.

Seattle --> Houston

As soon as we hit Texas, the pilot came on and told everyone that it might be a good idea to finish our drinks. I thought I was going to vomit several times, but never did.

I thought my wife was going to crush my right hand from her gripping it so hard though

Coming into DTW during a snowstorm wasn't the worst flight, but it was the toughest landing. We were in a DC-9 from NOLA, and we bounced around like dice on a craps table. Couldn't see the damn wing for the last 30 minutes of the flight.

Bumpiest flight ever was from Daytona Beach to ATL. Really bad weather. We bumped around so much the overhead bins were opening. This was the only time I ever flew where I felt a seatbelt actually served a purpose because I honestly think some of us would have hit the ceiling if we were not wearing them.
