I don't understand why our southern la posters (mainly Nola) posters are so angry and bitter about north la.

Nobody up here cares about south la.
Sure we make fun of coonasses and white rubber boots and short kids with gold chains with funny accents but we don't dislike them.
I think it's a self esteem problem.

Overrated:
St. Francisville (it's pretty and all, but kinda boring)

Underrated: Baton Rouge. People shite on this very flawed city all the time, but never take the time to appreciate what it does have: a solid cheap restaurant scene, better original music than anyone gives it credit for, and a growing and improving bar scene downtown.

Honorable mention underrated cities:
Lafayette (can't be understated how awesome it is, bro)
Mandeville/Covington (simply sublime)

Overrated: Lafayette
Underrated: Shreveport

Worked in Lafayette for a year and it's just a smaller BR IMO, with terrible traffic. The downtown/campus area is cool. It's a nice city but I don't get all the love.

Shreveport has typography (something like 8 great mt. bike trails), nice downtown, nice neighborhoods, some decent restaurants, hunting, fishing, great infrastructure (it has a loop!) etc...

And that is probably why...Girl I dated in college was from the port and had an east Texas accent and was a Cowboy's fan. It was cute for about a week.

Overrated - Church Point No seriously, I assume this has to be approached from an outsider's prospective. People native to Louisiana cant possibly vote unbiased. Most people across the nation associate LA with two cities - Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Those two cities bring in the tourism, Baton Rouge because of LSU and Nola because it's Nola. By defintion, those are the two most overrated cities in the state and it's really not close when you consider what the other large cities in the state have to offer. Lafayette, Covington, Shreveport, Hammond, etc are all very underrated when compared to what they have to offer vs the the big two and on how much national recognition they get.
Overrated - Baton Rouge
Underrated - Lafayette
And no, Im not from Lafayette.

WHO IS OVERRATING BATON ROUGE?

shite, its borderline underrated now. People routinely dog on it. It catches shite constantly on this board and in real life. All of this despite it actually improving all the time.

I don't get how the Northshore (Covington/Mandeville/Madisonville) is underrated.

I think its widely accepted as being one of the nicest places to live in the state with nice neighborhoods and great public schools.

I agree. And the thing is a lot of the schools aren't as nice as they're made out to be, same with a lot of neighborhoods. The traffic sucks too.

Overated: Mamou. There's only so much Fred's you can do.

Underrated: Tie between Arnaudville, St. Martinville, and Breaux Bridge.
