De-Slided
Louisiana comes in at number 10, with 15.1 guns for every 1,000 residents. That's 69,668 registered firearms among 4,625,470 people.

Edited to reflect a more accurate title

Considering firearms aren't required to be registered in La, I have trouble believing those figures

Considering that I probably have close to 15 guns in my house alone, I also don't believe that

Kind of a strange list. It doesn't include pistols, rifles and shotguns. So it is skewed really low..

What the hell is a registered firearm? Isn't it illegal for the Federal gov't to keep that kind of list. Stores are forbidden by law to keep evidence that you bought a gun from them beyond one year.

Does registered mean registered with the state?

I will go out on a limb and say there is 1 gun in the state of LA per LA resident.

Yea, its only counting suppressors and short barreled rifles and shotguns that you do actually have to apply for a tax stamp for. Now they are much more believable, but the title needs work

You can edit the OP to show its actual NFA items. I dont know how many OB posters check the OT but I hope a few of them check it out and chime in.

It would be even higher if not for the alarming rate of boat accidents.

Renamed title.

Hope that is closer to article content.

I had to register my arms as deadly weapons once I became a double black belt.

Where are you getting this? That statement is patently false. You have to keep 4473s for 20 years.

While the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record is the only accessible list of its kind, it is not all-inclusive. NFA firearms only include the categories regulated by The National Firearms Act of 1934: machine guns, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, suppressors, destructive devices like bombs and grenades, concealable devices with the ability to discharge a shot through the energy of an explosive, and any firearm with a bore over half an inch that has not been determined to have a legitimate sporting use.

I only know a few people with the type of weapons that need to be registered. The list does not include most AR-15s, much less the countless weapons most southerners have.

I'm OK with them not knowing.....

Way low...

Tons of guns change hands and never show up in any database.
