I almost got in a fight with a white dude because he kept calling me dog

Not now chief, I'm in the fricking zone

Nothing like that bothers me, chief.
I got over stuff like that in about... I dunno, the tenth grade I'd guess.
Good luck though.

Chief lol. Not gender specific but, I hate when a lady calls me "Hun"

I have a pretty big pet peeve about being called "boss" in situations where I'm not the boss. I feel it's sarcastic and condescending. My wife thinks it's weird, but I hold firm.

Buddy/bud or cap'n. Cap'n usually preface a request for spare change or a sad problem that only cash will solve. I'm not your buddy either.

What plantation did you serve?

Don't like being called "bro" or especially "brother" by a stranger or someone I barely know.
what if you ever happen to meet Hulk Hogan though?
I'd tell him as politely as possible that I'm not his brother.

I am in love with "bud" simply because my mom always called me that, and I miss her

I call all of my good male friends buddy upon greeting them. Like "come on in buddy!" As they are walking into my house or "good to see you buddy!" If it's out in public. Always done with a warm smile on my face. My friends know it's genuine.
I don't call recently met strangers or mere acquaintances anything but their name.
Now.....I coach 8th grade football and I think I have called players sport, champ, Mookie morons, killa, Fred Astaire, etc and hundreds of other names in jest.

Vast majority of the time chief is talking shite.
I don't find any of the terms necessarily annoying on their own if somebody you're cool with says it once in a conversation or something but if someone says bro 17 times in an hour that's someone who needs to go away, back to the shore, back in 2009 or something

I get called boss by many of the hispanic males working at gas stations and restaurants. It used to bother me for the same reasons you mention. I asked someone about it and they said it is usually a term used by males who have been incarcerated when they are interacting with someone superior to them. It still comes across as sarcastic, but in my mind I just laugh because they have probably taken it in the arse.

Working at a mom and pop restaurant in college, I had a coworker who for a couple weeks called every male customer "bubba".

None of those terms bother me too much. I just figure they can't remember my real name.
However, I know that "boss" is sometimes said as an insult, sorta like a black dude calling a white dude, "massah".
One co-worker calls other men "killah". Sometimes he'll call you, "playah". I don't care for it, but I know that he doesn't mean any harm, so no big deal.

Monica, especially when black people I just met call me that. It makes no sense.

I have a nickname that a bartender once every few months will initially refer to me as, and it always takes me off guard whenever a bartender calls me that name when I walk up.
