I have zero vested in Morgan Whalen. He’s dumb to speak that way. Just sounds ignorant. But I am enjoying cancel culture getting knocked down a peg.
We had a local thing happen 3-4 years ago. BBQ joint in Katy always was a time capsule to the days of Urban Cowboy. Literally. All the decorations were from about 1982-3 when the place opened. Anyway, he had a sign “How about we all play Cowboys and Iranians”. This sign was another relic in the shop. Back to the days of the Shah of Iran and the Iran Hostage Crisis. Well someone walked in to pick up food and took a pic of the sign. Got all “Karen’d up” and posted it to social media and Yelp etc. trying to bully the business into closing.
Next week they had pickets across the street and a line out the door of people ordering food. It was sweet.

I think most of this is because people who like that kind of music say his double album is really good.
And then there are a bunch of people like me who barely knew who he was before this and are curious so they download his music to hear it.

I guess he thinks people are buying it as some sort of "racist statement."
They're actually buying it because he isnt being played on the radio and several streaming services and they like his music.
