Starting to look at vacation for next year, noticed the Monte Carlo hotel is very inexpensive. Is it a shite hole now?

I stayed there 13 years ago. It was a very nice hotel. It had no frills, just a nice clean casino, couple great restaurants, etc.

I know it is owned by the Bellagio, so I am figuring it should still be nice.

It's been a while. Really enjoyed the lazy river & garden tub room.

Oh wow.

Well if you wait until it gets a good bit closer, you can get places for much cheaper. Summer is hot there, and the hotels are cheap as hell.

I saw one on my blind booking site for $8/night the other day

I actually love that place. It's in the best location, sometimes you can bet in the High Roller section for only $20 a hand and you get nice large suites for super cheap.

If you're trying to keep the price down but still want a decent place,I've stayed at the Linq (last spring after the renovation) and the Flamingo is ok. The location of the two is great. The rooms are not anything fancy. If you're going to be out of the room and a lot, and not expecting to wake up in a Cosmo or Wynn type room, look into the Linq/Flamingo, can get prices there. If you want a really nice Vegas pool, look into Caesar's, and all the upscale one's.

I was there 3 years ago. The rooms are clean which IMO is all you really need out of a Vegas room. The location is great if you like being on the strip. The casino is never really packed. My bro and I found tables open and played by ourselves several times. Drink staff was attentive. The drunker we got the ore we tipped. The Casino floor is COLD!!! I love walking in that place after strolling around the strip. Even if I'm not staying there, I'll pop in if close by to cool off. You can get a room fairly cheap. We flew in w/o hotel reservations and got a day of special on Priceline for like $40-60. They honored the price for multiple days so we just stayed there.

My attitude in Vegas is that I'm only in the room to sleep. It's fine. Clean and kept up, but by no means luxurious.

Is the Riviera still around?
That may be also cheap, but nice. Sort of.

Monte Carlo is a very solid mid range option. Great location, usually decent deals, excellent pub, the McD's comes in handy in the morning, etc. I forget the pool situation.

imo, best value for your money on the strip is planet hollywood because its really close to everything. The hotel doesnt offer as much as other hotels but its right next to the bellagio and ceasars. What are you doing there?

Btw Ive never stayed that far down on the strip

Great location, one of the nicer hotels at that price. I've always been able to find a better deal though. One time I was considering NYNY or Monte Carlo for around $120 a night. Ended up getting the Venetian for $130 so I stayed there instead. Vegas always has a deal to be found. Got the Palazzo once for $150 a night with a daily $50 casino credit, Blue Man Group tix, and breakfast buffet free. Super bowl weekend.

Well, and during the week at least, you can stay for about 1/4 of what it would cost for an inferior room almost anywhere else.

I've stayed "cheaply" in Vegas a bunch, none were ever less than good.

We actually stayed at some resort outside of Vegas one time and shuttled in, it worked surprisingly well, I'd do it again in a pinch.

For the price it's hard to beat a suite at Ballys if you're wanting to be cheap. Huge rooms, entrance to Paris, great pool, on the monorail stop.

Yeah, you can sometimes get any of the downtown joints for $8-$15 on a weekday. If you are just looking to drink and gamble, downtown is a bargain. Don't have to worry about $17 Bud Lights.

Monte Carlo is still nice. Clean and good location.

Wait until closer to the trip, there is no shortage of hotels in vegas, especially during summer. Earlier got 100$ rooms per night at aria with 50$ a day credit. Mgm usually has cheap deals too.
