Personal freedom is all fine and dandy in your own home. What about the rights of business owners? Should they be forced to allow you to do what you want, against their wishes?

No shirts no shoes no service gone for good?

It's 2015. Why is a woman wearing pants still a big deal to some people?

Was the student required to wear dresses to school every day?

Someone already answered this question..."Formal wear required."

The issue isn't following the rules...it's deciding whether the rules are essentially arbitrary and need to be amended. Why are people so hellbent on simply following idiotic rules for the sake of following "rules?"

It literally effects no one other than the person wearing the outfit, yet the school decided in a social media age, to go to war over this to protect...well, who exactly? People who would be offended by a girl in pants?

Phil probably has no clue where Carroll High School even is.

I can't believe that they are making a deal about this. Neville maybe.

This reeks of preplanned SJW stunt. Somebody put the girl up to making a fuss about this.

A black lesbo in racist white Christian LA. Perfect setup.

This won't get too much traction. The responisble school (Carroll) is all black. So the constantly offended limp wristed dick wads who would like to blow this into a huge ordeal will find themselves pitted against the constantly offended black community. People will look around for a straight white person to blame, find none and move on to the next major crisis that doesn't exist.

This one of the most true posts I've ever read on this site.

the funniest part of this story is how she's this all-star student who is choosing to go to a shitty college

that humor is the only bleak piece of shining light of this story

Maybe...but look at it another way. This is ONLY an issue because the school took whatever bait you seem to think was offered up, right? This could have gone differently.

The school could have said, "You know what...so long as it's formal wear, we really don't care what you wear. Permission granted." No story.

The girl could have shown up at Prom wearing the tux having not asked and gotten permission or been turned down only to THEN cause a scene. While I'd still agree the school's policy was idiotic, I'd support their on the scene handling of it and suggest the girl should have asked first.

The least likely would have been for her to show up in the tux and be let in...which would also have lead to no story.

My perspective, she took the most sensible route and did NOT try and barge in without asking permission first. If she's getting attention, she's only getting it because the school felt the need to protect everyone from seeing a girl in pants.

Since when is a girl wearing pants considered "dressing like a boy"?
