West Mobile , one of the most populous areas of the city is being invaded by very brave coyotes, coming in at night and taking pets...over 20 cats gone and there was video today of a three month old puppy being taken off someone's patio right by the back door.

Traps so far have caught one...any ideas? They see them on game cameras but they're too smart for the trappers.

Normally I'd agree but its too populated to blast away. Best way if not for that would be an AR15 with a night scope and hang out along the areas they use to get in and out.

One of my roommates in college was a wildlife ecology major and did a project on urban coyotes. Austin is having a similar problem. Basically they have lost the fear of humans due to easy food access and a lot of people (urban soccer moms and the like) see them as "oh look kids, nature" and then a month later their dog goes missing.

There's not much that can be done besides not leaving food out and hazing them (scaring the shite out of them and reinstilling their fear of humans). With the kind of problems you've described game wardens can probably come in and kill them I would imagine

You wouldn't believe how many bleeding hearts want them caught and relocated. You can't live trap those bastards they're too smart. Plus even if you could you just send your problem to someone else.

If you don't kill em all your spinning your wheels. Mother nature adjusts litters and they'll have bigger litters.p if the numbers drop.
