Either you misspoke or you don't know shite about who does and doesn't pay property taxes in Nola.

the Joan of Arc statue
Most obnoxious statue in the city from an aesthetic point of view.

If you want anyone to take your opinion seriously, try spelling, grammar, and English.
-you mean " couldn't care less"
-you mean "up at arms"
-pieces... (I before E except after C)
More importantly, nobody has the right to go through life without ever being offended.

I'm not offended at all by those statues. In fact I could care less. What I find pathetic is that everyone is up in arms over some peices of carved rock.

Shut up. A lot of us have ancestors that fought and died for the south in the civil war. Confederate history means something to a lot of people and it is bullshite that these damn crooked race baiting politicians are using our heritage as a cynical political bargaining chip.

How many road jobs can $600K fund?

I just saw this stupid shite on FaceBook. Honest to God, I'm almost ready to just let them "take 'em down" just so I don't have to hear the hysteria anymore.
I don't have any particular love for the statues, but rest assured you won't hear the bend of the whining. SJWs will find another battle.

I'm with you on the rest of it, but pretty sure "up in arms" is correct.

They always do. They're that subspecies of human that's only happy when they're miserable.

Not sure. Water has been leaking out of two fire hydrants for 6 months, yep 6 months, and the roads are undrivable here in Lakeview. And what's their excuse, we don't have the money to fix them. This boondoggle is going to cost well over $1MM in taxpayer money.

I know right. So why not just let them stay where they are instead of spending $600k to remove some pieces of carved rock that means nothing to anyone.
Why not fix the damn streets. $600,000.00 would fill a bunch of potholes.
The whole statue thing is just a damn diversion to keep people from foucusing on the poor quality of city government.

New Orleans public works and the fire department will attempt to remove some monuments tonight

What are they going to do with them, if they do take them down?
As long as they go some where and are still able to be viewed by people, isn't that bad. It could be worse, they could send them to another state for people to view.

for what it is I had a friend who's a civil engineer for the city and works in city hall, he told me they were coming down the night of January 2 2016 and that obviously did not happen. So, I'm not really sold on any rumor. They'll come down, people will be upset on the internet and life will go on.
Posted on 4/23/17 at 6:50 pm to ellishughtiger
They won't be removed in a single night, unless they start right at sundown. Then what is the point. Scaffolding, rigging, etc. Take up space. The streetcar will have to be offline for the duration I imagine.
Posted on 4/23/17 at 6:52 pm to fightin tigers
Great points. I can see them shutting down the street cars at the interstate and taking a few nights for General Lee. Police presence will be out of control.
