Minor in possession

So, a buddy of mine (goes to ULL) received an MIP last February. His girlfriend washed his pants along with his ticket rendering him unable to decipher his court date. After months of doing absolutely nothing about it, he decides it's time to start worrying. He's received no notices in the mail and is not sure what to do. I told him I'd ask the O-T for him and here we are. Fwiw I believe the setting was the keg
Eta: Apparently he called the courthouse and DA today nd they told him they had nothing on record. He thinks the cop never turned it in.
Eta
Also I forgot to mention he got me to start a thread asking the O-T if he would get drug tested as a waiter.

go down in person and ask? or make a phone call?

Just call the court, tell them what happened, and ask them what he needs to do.
If he's missed the court date, they will likely just give him a a bigger fine to get it taken care of.

Your friend isn't very smart, is he?

Bad idea if he's missed the date. Could end up arrested

Fair enough. Same kinda thing happened to my best friend, except he went to take care of a different ticket. He had forgotten about a boating ticket he had gotten several months earlier. They arrested him on the spot right there in front of God and everyone

Probably has a bench warrant

Just tell him to go to court and ask.

He knows he got the citation and should just ask the court what he needs to do. Pretty simple.
If he doesn't know which court to ask, he needs to just go online and look around. It isn't hard.

1 ticket I will never get. Idk how I went unscathed

Me either. I was always cautious on gameday until I got drunk then wandered around with beer everywhere and somehow managed to avoid the ATC

It'll go away if he just ignores it.

He should call and ask. He's probably already missed the court date and already has a warrant for failure to appear.
I got one at a music festival when I was 20 and the court date was just a few weeks later. There was about 30 other people there for the same thing so the judge didn't really take her time to explain things. She just asked if you wanted the fine or community service and said it would go off your record when you're done. What she forgot to mention, at least to me, was that they were also suspending my license. They supposedly mailed out a letter about it but I no longer lived at he address on my license so didn't find out about until 2 and half years later when I got pulled over and given a $700 fine

The guy is in college and seriously doesn't know how to make a phone call and ask questions?
