I had posted something smart-assed when I couldn't find any evidence online supporting this post and thought it was another death hoax.
I loved Merle Haggard's songs. When I was 5 years old, my Aunt taught me how to play and sing "Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down"...great song...regardless...this will always be my favorite of his.

He was always fun guy to be around......Friends back in mid-70's early 80's owned Bear Creek Steakhouse in Amite and he played there a few times.

Almost went to go see him in March at Robinsonville as a birthday present. Prices were high and money was tight so I told the wife not to worry about it
