My thoughts too. What's next? Libraries? State Archives with Confederate records? Private tombs with Confederate soldiers? What about the mass graves in national parks with thousands of Confederate war dead? Surely they are offended by those as well. The whitewashing of history has begun.

Sickening.

The insanity reached critical mass a long time ago. All this flag BS is is a distraction from all the other problems this country has.

And all on the backs of nine dead people. Why didn't they do this before the SC shooting if they're so frigin smart - and champions of the people? Biggest collection of opportunists I've ever seen...

That's the crazy statue in 1-65 south of Nashville. The eyesore is on private property.

I drove by the statue on my way to court yesterday and thought to myself "well it's only a matter of time before this is gone."

Where are all the bums going to sit when they take the statue down?

I graduated from the Health Science Center across the street from the park. If I recall correctly (if the story is true), his family anticipated this. We were told if the bodies are moved, the land reverts back to the ownership of his family. We were even told that the city tried to give the park to the UTHSC so they wouldn't have to deal with this. The HSC kindly declined. This is all hearsay, but it's the story that we were always told in school.

We've got the woman that showed Forrest and his troops where to cross a deep creek buried somewhere in downtown Gadsden,AL.

Emma Sampson. There used to be a Gen.Forrest Junior High and Emma Sampson High School here til about 10 years ago when they created Gadsden City High School.

It moved them up to the top Sports Classification in the State.

I may be missing something, but, though I am 100% against the insanity that has ruled since those killings, I don't think we should be defending the founder of the KKK.

I don't care if he's Saddam Hussein. You don't start digging up graves because you don't like them, or because it becomes politically expedient. That's wrong on so many levels.

Aside from that, please do me a favor and do some reading on him. He made major contributions to the city after the war, and later distanced himself from the klan.

Did you know that at the outbreak of the war, he freed all of his slaves on the condition that they serve with him? 44 did, and 43 stayed to the end of the war. This dude made far more contributions to society than those trampling on his grave.
