Mobile is 50% black, 45% white, comparable to BR.
He defeated a black candidate who ran purely on race politics a la Broome.
Mobile has attracted new industry over the last few years including assembly plant for the Airbus A320 family.

Mainly because jones has already been mayor here before and proved to be incompetent. He also had zero money to campaign with.
I'm excited about what Stimpson has done for mobile so far. Now hopefully he can get a handle on the city council and crime.

To be fair, Simpson never really labels himself a republican. He's a good seeming dude.
