re: Mayor-Elect of Jackson MS wants to remove Columbus' discovery of US from history

well he's got a point , "America was not lost Columbus was" I do not have a problem with a more accurate account of history, I got nothing to be ashamed of. The Civil War could definitely use some more accurate details based on popular opinion on this board.

My favorite was his proposal to dig a canal to Birmingham to get in on some of that sweet cruise ship action.

Holy shite. We really have some dumb "leaders" in this country. That is almost as bad as the congressman that was concerned about us tipping an island over or some shite.

Northern Africa =/= Subsaharan Africa...not ever, and particulaly not in the 14th and 15th Centuries.

Jackson has a hell of a lot more to worry about than Christopher Columbus. The place is a shithole. Focus on soap and water.

Why? All the white people moved to Canton or Madison.

He is quite possibly the most overt racist to be elected as mayor of a major American city in 50 years are more.

I was never taught that Columbus discovered America in school. We knew about the Vikings. Still important for European history though

I'm really stunned this could happen. Him being elected. Really, they might as well wall off the city

Always depends on the voting block...sometimes normal folks are simply outnumbered in their district. For example, Shelia Jackson Lee is my Rep here in Houston!!
