The "wall" is a frickin joke. It would be an ugly, ineffective, lasting symbol of wasted tax dollars and political pandering.
If national security is the motivation, wouldn't it be more affordable and effective to just create a clearly posted minefield along the border? "All ye who cross here shall be blown TF up, please don't even try. Please." Maybe bad optics at first, but it wouldn't be long before people stopped trying.
Even the minefield would be circumvented. Patrol the other side with remote controlled drones that give a loud warning to stop and wait for safe transport back. If they keep running, the drone could follow, taze, net, or glitter bomb them.
Joking aside, this is a difficult topic. I don't agree with an open border, but empathize because I serve them as patients. If I was a Honduran mother and had a safe opportunity to sneak into America to raise my kids... I would. Any of you who say you'd stay in Venezuela versus working undetected in America are full of shite.
The ones crossing over illegally are blameless! They are taking advantage of a legal and economic atmosphere that encourages it. The employers are at fault. It's a very complex issue.
The wall is stupid. I scoff in the general direction of anyone who supports and wants to pay for it.
