AKs shoot 7.62x39, a 308 is 7.62x51. Not even close to "pretty much" the same.

Yep. I'm guessing he only planned to shoot for 2-5 minutes, check his monitor to see if the coast was clear, and then try to take off and either blend in with the crowd or attempt to shoot his way out. Time flew by much quicker than he planned and the security gaurd outside of his door made him realize that reinforcements were on the way and there was no way he could get out.

I agree but it is weird that he had it knowing the possibilities of escaping was slim.. I looked at the layout on google earth and directly on the corner of the wing he was shooting from there is a parking lot straight down across the street that would have been an easier possibility if the car was there. Now penetrating the tanks with jet fuel at that distance is probably not going to happen due to most aboveground storage tank shells being a minimum of .250" thick most of the time thicker!

I agree with that. It wasn't some incredible drop at the distance he was shooting.
He was landing them just fine without tracers considering the size of his target.

Then why have bring a dozen or more rifles depending on whose numbers you believe, two or three would have probably been sufficient?

Just heard on the radio from a reporter in Vegas.....she said police believe pos accidentally shot himself while gathering guns and ammo to make his escape. ....sorry no link and sorry if already posted...Obviously they would of had to find a 2nd gunshot wound somewhere on him to believe this.....she also said her sources say ISIS connection.....tkfw

I don't know. Look at the pistol, you can see where the mouth was around the barrel.

If that's the story, then I would definitely start wondering if he was a patsy. Shoot him in the chest, but then use his hands to put one through the mouth making it look like suicide.
If true that he was shot twice, interesting.
