Nope. It was her kid.
Nope it was Mitch's son, Ben.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu was forced Tuesday to step out of his role as New Orleans' chief executive and speak as a contrite father about the early morning arrest of his teenage son on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
quote:
saw the DWI arrest of his son Benjamin, 19, occur just hours before the start of a previously scheduled news conference to discuss a crackdown on city-licensed alcohol vendors who flout the terms of their permits.
quote:
Benjamin Landrieu, a student at the University of Mississippi, was arrested near Zimpel Street and Broadway, where he allegedly hit at least one parked vehicle. He was booked into Orleans Parish Prison just before 7 a.m., according to Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office records.
He was released Tuesday on a $6,500 personal surety bond.
In addition to DWI, Landrieu faces charges of reckless operation of a vehicle and driving on a roadway laned for traffic, according to Sheriff's Office records. The latter charge means Landrieu likely was "straddling" the lane in which he drove, said officer Frank Robertson, a New Orleans police spokesman.

Was never going to win the Baptist vote regardless.
This was a play to make her seem less "DC elitist" and more genuine. I don't think this will hurt her at all. Its already proven to give her a ton of publicity, it made politico this morning.
It was a "she's one of us" publicity stunts, and it seems to be working. Its all anyone can talk about. Anything to get the general public talking about her, without talking about her shitty voting record.

It's also common knowledge that she called Boysie up to Washington and forced him to run those commercials.
Doubtful. Do you have anything to back this up? I'm more apt to agree it was payback. I doubt ML could "demand" he do it.
When knuckleheads in Louisiana see people like Boysie doing commercials for ML they get the mistaken impression that ML, despite her obvious liberal agenda, is "good" for Louisiana.

Everyone knows that Mary can pull those contracts as fast as they were awarded....
"Everyone" is clueless about government contracting.
To say, "oh, it's OK, good ol' Boysie would never vote for her" is missing the entire point.
Congratulations, you are assimilated.

yes, I know people very close to Boysie in those DC political circles that has confirmed this...he spends a lot of time in Washington

maybe demand isnt the right word, maybe "strongly encouraged" him would be more suitable.

what is the point?

We know.
You are busy being a smartass when you could be learning how the world works.
To keep electing Landrieu b/c she is
You are latching on to the "Mary is powerful, we can't lose her" BS which is exactly what Boysie was selling.

Both Mitch and Mary have had a son arrested for DUI in New Orleans.
Ben Landrieu (Mitch's son) was popped for a DUI after hitting three parked cars on Broadway outside the Boot. Connor Snellings (Mary's son) was arrested last year in the Quarter for DUI, hit and run, and driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

the majority of the O&G business people know better than that.....

to some people in this state yes.....I dont think the majority of the people in this state are going to fall of that this time around.

Which is why what Boysie did was so unimpressive.
It smacked of Boysie putting his own interests ahead of the state, which is exactly what it was.
Everyone knows the deals are made in the halls of the Hart and Rayburn building, or at the bar at the Capital Grill.

And so how is a complete noob going to help the State of La in the Senate more than a person with Landrieu's seniority?

Deal-making.
Like always.
"You vote this way, I'll help you over here." etc.

they work a new guy like the mob or a pimp, as soon as he gets in, he's approached, schmoozed, and is offered some sort of trivial bone to get him indebted to whomever thinks they need his vote to be relied on

Good for her, I saw the pic and laughed. People drink at tailgates, might as well join the fun rather than act like it isn't happening. It boggles me that people are upset about this.. But the butthurt of politics knows no bounds.
