I think it was the friends he surrounded himself with after he got out of the military. He was a great husband when he was in the service, but once he got out his whole attitude changed.

.. It's something I've always thought I wanted (minus the being kept at the house part) but seeing as how 50% of marriages end in divorce it doesn't seem to promising
FWIW, 100% of your previous relationships have also ended in breaking up.

My married friends say their jealous of me at times cause I'm able to go out take random trips and live a carefree life for the most part. They all have kids with more on the way never leaving the house except for work and birthday parties
I mean, you're just embelleshing it. Of course I miss the random Vegas and New Orleans trips. But as one poster said, a lot of it(not Vegas, ever) just gets old at some point. Settling down and getting married with a couple of kids, isn't glamorous, but you're downplaying the awesomeness of being with your kids every day, doing things with them, taking random trips with them and all of that other mushy stuff I would have made fun of before I had kids of my own.

OK, so just hang with her and don't bang with her. You haven't found the right one to settle down with yet.

Not everyone is parent material but raising my children in a stable two parent home has been the single most gratifying experience of my life. When I was in my early 20s I could never imagine my life with kids, now that I have them I really can't imagine my life without them. It's an interesting shift of perception.

Oh the socially constructed idea of "maturity" to keep us all in line .

Gotta love it.

The mature are those who settle down with one vagina, move to the suburbs, and drive mini vans. Just lol

I'm married, live less than 10 minutes from downtown NOLA and have a 420HP sports car.

It's all about money and power. That's the construction of society that the large corporations and churches (who really run things) want, in order to profit and control things in America.

Indeed. Encouraging people to start families and live in suburbia is very functional for society.

I get why the "corporations" influence us to do so, just fascinating so many blindly follow that path

I think the prospect of being married is very hard for independent people who like to do their own thing.

Most people are happiest in college, independent, and doing their own thing, sleping with a variety of men/women, etc.

That lifestyle, while happiest for many, is frowned upon after a certain age. I just lol
