And they are really trying to hammer Cheyenne Mountain's arse.

Not really. We "only" get one target in a 500 warhead scenario and 4 in a 2000 warhead scenario. Those are probably for Ft. Carson, Peterson AFB and Schriever AFB. I think they realize that there's no way they're going to penetrate Cheyenne Mtn. so they don't even really try. Waste of nukes.

For those metro areas with multiple targetings, does it work as if you throw every warhead at a target at once or do you space out your attack over time?

Space them out. The debris in the air after an attack can destroy another incoming warhead before it detonates. This is one of the reasons that our silos are clustered together relatively closely rather than spread out all over the country.

Thanks. That's exactly what I was wondering if that could happen.

It does seem optimistic that you will have enough time to do that though.

The calculus of nuclear war is strange indeed. It sorta blows my mind that it's somebody's job to figure out what's the most efficient order in which to blow up the world.

The legend is in the lower left corner. Triangle means it's a target in a 500 warhead scenario. The Dot means it's a target in a 2000 warhead scenario (along with all the triangles too of course).

Should have a dot in the middle of the Gulf which would wipe out all of the coast from Texas to Florida.

In theory Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) is supposed to render just about all electronic technology (particularly stuff with chips) dead and useless. That said, after initial detonations, how much shite is actually going to get beyond that? Just wondering. Assuming EMP, you would have to orchestrate a massive attach in a manner that you start on one end of the country and do not send anything over what you have already detonated over, otherwise it would hypothetically become useless. It is also an argument for getting your shite out of the ground and headed their way before their shite gets to you. Just wondering.

Just how big are these bombs?

They would make Hiroshima look like peanuts. If you believe the map shown, the magnitude of the current arsenal of weapons would take Louisiana and most other states off the map.

For the matter, the nuclear firepower that was put in Cuba by the USSR that precipitated the Cuban Missile Crisis was enough to take out everything except Oregon and Washington State. I was around for that. Young, but remember basically what was happening and watching my parents and other adults being damned concerned.
