Had Archie Brown Jr. committed a hit-and-run, he and a 15-year-old boy likely would still be alive. But Brown stopped his van after it struck and killed a 2-year-old Sunday evening on Milwaukee's near northwest side. Moments later, Brown was shot and killed at the scene of the accident. And the boy was fatally wounded. Three people are dead and, in the case of the 15-year-old, it's unclear why. Police reported in a news release that the 2-year-old ran into the street at 5:10 p.m. The release said the driver of the van, a 41-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, that the teen later died in surgery, and that investigators were working to develop a suspect.

How the 15-year-old was involved — whether he was in the van, was a bystander or was connected in some other way — is unclear.

Sounds like ol' Pop must have been around, garned his pound of flesh, and then took off.

My interpretation is that two people in a van accidentally hit a toddler who ran out in to the street. I'd guess that someone associated with the child then took matters into their own hands and dispensed some street justice on the occupants of the van.

unless the deceased was speeding and/or driving recklessly, they should be dispensing street justice on the parents for not watching their child, of course im assuming the shooter was a parent

I think that's the worst thing I've read all year.

Does this have anything to do with a taser?

Neighbors and family tell us there was a party going on in a house near 48th Street and Glendale Avenue on Milwaukee's north side when a 2-year-old child ran outside and into the street.
That child was hit by a passing vehicle. What happened next has devastated family members of the driver of that vehicle.
They tell us 40-year-old Archie Brown Jr. was driving that vehicle and he stopped after the accident to try to help the child, picking up the child in his arms. But, Brown's family says a man walked outside with a gun and shot Brown and shot a 15-year-old.

Unacceptable and he should be given the death penalty

Not justifying shooting the driver of the van. But as a father I can see how in the moment something like this happened a parent could let their grief and shock get the better of them and shoot someone who just ran over their kid. It's not right, but I can see how it could happen.
But why shoot the kid? He had no more control over the situation than did the toddler.

bullshite, anything other than self defense is unacceptable and unthinkable. I bet he was drunk or high or both. Two year olds can't open a door or gate, he's culpable for more than the shooting.

should have shot himself for not paying attention to his kid.

The parent should have shot himself for sucking at parenting.

Where did I say it was acceptable? I just said I can see how in the moment something like this, it's possible for a parent of a small child to wig out and do something like this. Not saying it's right, but rather a crime of passion similar to a husband or wife shooting a guy or girl they find in bed with their spouse. They're still guilty and should be held responsible accordingly.

I agree. It's the parent's responsibility to keep their 2 yr old out of the street.

Damn, what a terrible situation.
I could sympathize with wanting to murder the driver if he was drunk and drove into my yard and killed my child, but I'd probably want to kill myself before the driver in this situation.

Ehh. I don't think so. A decent person with a modicum of mental stability wouldn't react that way. You have to be fricked in the head for your reaction to grief to be to kill a random child and person who may not even really be at fault. This shouldn't be relatable.

Yeah anyone with half a heart would not react with that kind of hateful violence just seconds after seeing their kid get run over. Shock and desperation would come first for any normal human being

It's related to intelligence and background of the family. Many react irrationally in that situation but combine that with a violent culture and you'll get a shooting.
Anyone remember the teenager running into traffic and being hit...the diver getting out to check on him (not driver fault) and a crowd of idiots beat the driver?

So the driver got out and was trying to help the child who ran in front of his moving car, and the dude ran up and shot him, then moved around to go shoot the 15 year old?
