I'm pretty sure 99.9 percent of this town is glad he is dead. The 0.01 percent just wants a good excuse to go riot and steal stuff. But this ain't Baltimore or Ferguson. People here will shoot you dead when you try stuff like that.

TPD had a warrant to charge Ware for attempting to elude police. Ware was arrested in September after a woman told officers that he choked her until she was unconscious, sexually assaulted her and stole her 2011 Honda Accord. The woman recanted that statement in a letter that is included in the court documents. A judge denied his request to dismiss the case, which was pending when he died.
In 1999, Ware was arrested for shoplifting a pair of shorts and fighting officers at the Parisians store at University Mall. Court records indicate that he resisted arrest and that officers used pepper spray.
He also had convictions for second-degree assault, escape, drug possession and drug trafficking.

I got some extra pitchforks here. Everyone grab one so we can finally burn down Bama. We will use this to cover the real reason why we're burning the place down, we all hate Saban and the football team.

quote:Yeah, but the sick a-hole milktoasts running around nowadays maintain that all black suspects are saintly and all cops are racist killers. The facts don't really matter. I got a flood of shite over on Gawker for posting about the guy choked to death in Mississippi, asking why he was exercising a horse in a residential neighborhood at 10 PM and noting that hiring the law firm of a black separatist didn't help the family's credibility in a he-said, he-said situation. Evidently, asking questions that in any way question the validity of a black person's story is now considered racist. The world is indeed a fricked up place.
Someone in the "community" called him in saying he was sitting on the porch with a gun. Dude had a warrant out on him. Police shows up and he runs into the woods.

My suspicion is that having a black police chief and a black officer on the scene, as well as an EMT-trained officer, are making it difficult for the professional agitators to gain traction on this issue.

I guess it depends on the criteria or angle you look at it from. What would you think, without knowing me, or him?

They are too busy polishing Nick Saban's knob to know anything else.

TPD has body cam and dash cam footage they're going to release after the formal investigation. I'm guessing they're itching to get it out there because it exonerates the officers involved.

I knew they had dash cam footage. Hadn't heard about body cam footage.

Some developments in the Anthony Ware death story:
First, the TPD hasn't recovered gun from the scene. The body and dash cam footage that's going to come out (more on that later) might reveal whether the guy ever actually had a gun or whether it was something the anonymous person who called the police made up to get a bigger response.
Second, turns out Ware had a long criminal history including robbery, firearm possession, driving without a license, eluding police, and his arrest from last fall for choking and raping his girlfriend. Also, a week before his death Ware posted the following status on facebook: "Yesterday I was pronounced dead, so today I am resurrected as Makaveli the don….. I’ll be damn if my soul rest in prison because i ain’t going back."
Third, the TPD seems positively itching to get the relevant body and dashcam footage as well as the original 911 call out to the public as soon as possible. The chief made a statement promising that the release of the footage would vindicate the officers involved. As much as they're rushing to get the footage out, I have to say I believe him.

This case doesn't outrage me. Likely was legitimate police work.
The media should be all over that dash cam footage that was finally released from the LA county shooting of unarmed men. It was totally outrageous and there was zero accountability.
Then again, the guy the police murdered wasn't black, so who cares, I guess.

Ware, who is black, was pursued by six officers. TPD identified the officers as three white men, one black man, one white woman and one Asian woman. The officers will remain on duty while the investigation is completed.
