Seattle, WA - A man who was enjoying his 2nd Amendment right at the Seattle May Day March (2015) started out by giving interviews to various news agencies and talking with people in the crowd before the march. All seemed to be going well. Reporters interviewed the man, identified as Shayne Butts, and curious people asked the him questions about open carry and his philosophies behind it.

Not long after Butt's arrival however, a few people took exception to the fact that he was there, and armed with a legally open carried firearm. They proceeded to accuse Butts of being racist, antagonistic and yelled at him to leave the march. Butts, remained calm and respectfully asserted that he had as much right to be there as they did and wished to stay.
The following video shows the quick progression from his arrival to his interactions with an angry crowd.

That girl yelling was super annoying. Also I really enjoyed his innovative idea of carrying his magazines in the middle of his back. I can't believe I was carrying my magazines in easily accessible pouches in the front of my gear the whole time I was in the army

I'm all for open carry, but only if you have a decent haircut.

That guerilla costume has no place in the middle of a crowd on a city street. If you want to dress up as a terrorist, be prepared for the consequences. One good thing to come of this is that sensible people of every political persuasion are going to start demanding that more restrictions be placed on firearms, just the opposite of what this a-hole thinks he's accomplishing.

I'm certainly fine with open carry too but toting around an "assault" rifle as your open carry weapon is being a dickhead. In my opinion, that is like having freedom of speech but not being able to incite panic (yelling fire in a movie theater). Carrying a rifle like that makes everyone uncomfortable and nervous.

It was an odd decision on his part to even attend whatever event that was with a rifle. He was friendly and personable though. What did he do to earn the racist label?

The two SJW's that had a powerful want to be a victim were greatly disappointed by his phlegmatic attitude. I wish a dog had run up and humped the leg of the woman that screeched throughout the whole video.

I also think he got shorted a few dollars worth of haircut.

So, you are saying there is a right and wrong way to do open carry and he is doing it wrong. What is the right way?

Yes there is a right way to open carry.

All carrying a rifle around in a large public setting like that is doing is looking for attention.

He was looking for nothing more than to cause a stir and to say he look at me, I'm such an advocate of 2nd amendment that I shoulder carry a rifle.

I carry all the time. Like I said, I'm all for it. Most of time it's concealed. I get that fact that walking through the mall with an exposed pistol is gonna cause problems and I respect that. I'm not gonna walk through the mall with a shoulder slung rifle because "I'm my constitutionally protect righ blah blah blah"

Oh I'm sorry maybe I missed the part he was just taking a leisurely stroll through a mall and not at the Seattle May Day festival with others who were also celebrating their rights. Damn I must be slipping.

Yeah but you realize that's your opinion right? If he wants to carry that rifle it's all perfectly legal and is a right of US citizens. They day we stop excercising our rights for the convenience of others is the day the government starts "justifiably" removing them for whatever BS reason. Ben Franklin said those who give up liberty for temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I've encountered a rifle touting open carry person, was a very friendly guy. People get uncomfortable cause they think mass shooting but I'm always like if that's the case you would be dead before realizing it. No mass murdered ever walked around alarming people then started shooting.

Also the fat white wench and the diabetes stricken brotha are very insecure and mad at the world for their place in it. Everyone must be dragged down to their level for "equality" don't you know.

If the right is never exercised, people will assume it doesn't exist.

This guy is a typical douche. From his ridiculous haircut, to his mag filled pouches in the middle of his back for some reason, to his SKS.
