They should build it adjacent to the Loop.

Isn't the area near BR General already basically a "Health District"? Seems like they have every specialist you could want off of Picardy.

Here's the proposed road construction map.

I think roads 3 and 7 will be the only ons to happen in the near future.

Would also be a tourism draw from Mississippi

Road 5 is being fast tracked by the state because of the new children's hospital.

Someone at OLOL has some serious pull.

Gotcha, though it seems like this mythical Midway Boulevard would have to exist first.

The key in all of that is trying to start a medical school in Baton Rouge. I know Baton Rouge has been wanting that. That medical degree/engineering degree makes no sense though.

That area is already a health district. They are just wanting to make it official and add some roads.

I think the medical/engineering degree makes sense. Medical software and telemedicine=future.

Baton Rouge doesn't plan a lot of things through, and the region is definitely being ignored by the state and feds when it comes to infrastructure spending....but most of what is discussed in the article probably will happen. They are supposedly fast tracking some of the road infrastructure now ahead of the new Children's hospital that is under construction.

The work add LSU's 3rd medical school has been one of the worst kept secrets in the state. They've been pushing for a branch campus in Baton Rouge since Katrina.

The smart thing to do would be to add 50-100 spots at both LSU-NO and LSU-Shreveport for the first two years, with the caveat that the clinicals (year 3-4) would be done in Baton Rouge. Building a med school from the ground up wouldn't be smart, imho. Would not want a random D.O. School in Louisiana, which it probably would be.
