Not really. He has one great movie (6th Sense), a few enjoyable movies (Signs, Unbreakable), a few okay movies (The Village, Lady in the Water), and few stinkers (The Happening, Last Airbender, After Earth), and then came back with a movie generally enjoyed by critics and fans (The Visit).
I think TFtC would be in his wheelhouse.

I really enjoyed Tales from the Crypt. A little scary and full of comic-book gore, but mostly funny. It is one of the few reboots that I would be excited about.
Mixed feelings about M Night Shyamalan being attached. Like others have said, he has one great movie, a few okay movies, and several pretty bad ones...
