I just wanted to make sure, they will receive their full accreditation, but I am almost positive that will not be a problem. I have just had some people telling me that I should be careful because they do not have it already.

I wouldn't worry about the accreditation issues. Go to LSU-NO if that is where she wants to go. OLOL is incredibly overpriced and honestly the state can't handle 90 PA grads per year because of lack of job options.

One of the nurses that works in our PICU is technically an NP(I think she may even have her DNP). She just isn't working as one. She doesn't want to work in urgent cares and until she finds the job she wants...she is just gonna stay working in the PICU as an RN.
That has to suck to go to school and spend all that money to obtain a higher level of nursing education....and not use it.

Nurse like ERMDs pay difference in NP/PA varies drastically around the country. If the pay wasn't so good I'd be out of Baton Rouge

Or spend your parents money on PA school, only to marry a physician you meet on rotations, become a housewife, and never actually practice as a PA.
She's still a friend, but we give her shite about it all the time.

Is there a big push for NPs to now have their DNP?
I know there has been a push for that here in AZ.
Tell your friend she could have easily gone shopping for doctor husbands by just becoming a nurse instead...save her parents a bunch of money and saved herself so much studying

HIJACK: Are hospitals/medical offices as trashy in terms of employee hookups as they are rumored to be?
Should we start a spinoff thread?

That's funny. We are friends with a couple kind of in that situation. Although the Physician and PA dated before she was even in PA school. But she practiced a short time and now is at home.

Not that I have encountered. But my experience is only limited to peds and mother/baby floors. I only know of one pediatric nurse that basically picked from all the interns that rotated each month on our floor the ones she wanted to frick....and she is actually confirmed to have a mental condition.
I've heard ER nurses tend to whore it up, must have to do with many of them being adrenaline junkies
NICUs tend to have a higher percentage of young, hot nurses fwiw. But they love babies...so gotta remember that.

I know a woman who completed pharmacy school and dental school, only to become a (good) housewife to an orthodontist.
Dont think she ever practiced in either of those fields. If she did, it wasn't for long, because now she is the mother of 4 or 5 kids.

I only know of two DNPs personally in Dallas, one is the Hospital president and the other a CNO.
There is zero push here in Dallas.

Sounds like meeting the doctor was her goal all along. PA degree's a good backup plan though.

I can tell you Baton Rouge is oversaturated with NP/PAs
This is the absolute truth. My wife graduated with a Masters in PA studies in 2013, struggled to find a job in BR and eventually got a job in Lake Charles. Took over 2 years to find a job back in BR.
If you don't have anything tying you down, Texas and North Carolina are the states to go to. Some towns in rural/semi-rural Texas are paying $115K + $5K bonus + $5K relocation.

In Houston as well. Or at least nobody in the med center

I've never found that to be the case. There are always a few pig docs that will flirt with or frick anything that let's them, but it's not generally received really well.
The one experience I did have where a doc had an affair with a staff member resulted in the doc leaving clinic to hide from the husband who showed up to confront him.
He was played by the Girl (and her husband. To this day I think both scammed him) for some "hush money". He's still a pig.

Overall (some exceptions apply) healthcare pay is better in Texas, case in point:
For the nurses in Dallas many facilities are offering $10-$15,000 sign-on Bonuses + relocation expenses. FYI
Another facility is offering $52/hr base + shift diffs for nights and weekends.

Isn't the licensing/certification process more difficult as well? Do they require you to train in Texas?

Most PA's that work with us are from LSU-Nola. They do a damn good job. But we pick the best ones.

my mom, back in the day, wanted me to be a PA... seemed cool, but pharmacy seemed like a better fit, for me anyway....
would love to see what kind of nurse talent i could have pulled though...
