AUD & BEC can be passed with under 100 hours of studying; the other two require a bigger time commitment.

Just took AUD last weekend. I was around the 100 hour mark.

For me, the "easier" material tripped me up on the REG exam because I took it for granted during study time.

I would say 50k is pretty fair before meeting the work requirements.

ETA: Or maybe not. I'm making 50k now with no CPA but do plan on staying in my current position for my work requirement.

I passed AUD in November on my first attempt.

Just took REG last Saturday. Hopefully I passed it because I put a ton of time in. I would recommend working as many SIMs as possible before taking REG.

Got BEC coming up in April or May.

Thats awesome man. Keep it up. AUD and BEC are kind of similar in terms of difficulty. FAR and REG require more study time.

I love guys that comment on how difficult something is based off of their brother in laws analysis. Regardless of what he tells you, people don't "barely study" and pass that exam.
Well he barely studied, and just passed the last one. Tough shite for you if you couldn't.

I love when someone struggled with something and assumes everyone else must have as well.

First of all, your cousin lied or has a weird definition of "barely."

Second of all, you are the douche you love to berate right now. If you want to dick ride your cousin because he's a rare exception, than own it. But the person you are responding to said he/she passed all parts on the first try. That's above average as is.

I agree above. You can't barely study and pass all four of these exams.

It was my brother in law. He didn't lie. Why in earth would I come here with a random lie about how much my wife's brother studied for a test? He put at most 10 hours into the last one.

What does this even mean? I'm sorry you guys have your panties in a bunch that someone studied less than yall to accomplish the same thing. I didn't realize I was among the only people on the planet that were capable of passing the CPA .

He supposedly studied at least 3 hours a day for 6 months, which at 5 days a week put him at 390 hours of study time. I'd sure as hell hoped I didn't fail if I put that much effort into anything. But not everyone needs to put that kind of effort in. Yes, my BIL failed one of the four tests. But ask yourself if you'd rather pass all four the first time putting in over 1000 hours of studying, or retaking one test and only burning 50-80 hours. Not much of a decision in my eyes which one is better.

You guys seem bitter as hell someone could pass without spending months studying.

It's funny coming from you. How many have you passed? How many hours did you watch him study? A few buddies and I were 4.0 students at lsu undergrad and masters program and all studied a decent amount. No one knows pension accounting, derivative accounting, cost accounting, audit assertions etc etc by barely studying.

I have his wife and him to go off of on how much he (didn't) studied. I guess I'll have to let him know he's an accounting genius apparently since the OT says what he did is impossible.

Please confirm he said he studied for a combined 50 - 80 hours for all four parts so people can laugh at you.

Seriously, the poster who gets all over others for not knowing what they are talking about is in here with these claims. on the almost zero chance that it's true, you don't seem like the type to hitch his wagon to the absolute best case exception as having any sort of meaning.

I could see taking one of the easier ones and just knocking it out with a stroke of luck. However, FAR is pretty voluminous and that would be pretty impressive to pass and barely study.

The only hard part about CPA test from what I've seen is making time to study during busy season. My BIL said if he didn't have to work and just focus on the test he'd pass them no problem.

I honestly don't give a frick what you think. It happened.

What's funny is you're the one not knowing what you're talking about here. I know my BIL. I know how much he procrastinated in studying. I head all about it over the year or so. I also know he's very smart and gets things incredibly quickly. I dint know hat to tell you other than you sound really mad someone did something without putting in as much work as you.

Besides the lack of studying from one person "according to him," Tell me what you've seen.

Just curious, why a year? Why didn't he take all of them in two months? Did he just burn all kinds of time in between exams? Didn't read all of these posts so maybe it's in the thread. Maybe he passed them all in one quarter?
