For LSU and the state to be in such a fiscal crisis, they sure do have a hell of a lot of construction going on at the campus

These projects were funded by student fees (LSU union) and half donors/half state (PFT). the state agreed to match the PFT donations before all the cuts really got rolling.

It's easy to raise money for construction

The difficulty is getting the state to pay to maintain it

Lots of private investors see potential. What's the problem again?

Yes they do.

LSU does get a lot of private donations though. Vastly more than other state institutions. A lot of donations went into the Business Education Complex and the Patrick Taylor building. I think the state only matched some of it.

I think the Rec Center was also student-funded.

It was bad optics when Fox and CNN shows photos of the "lazy river" at LSU's fancy new rec center while F King was playing Chicken Little every legislative session.

Then again, telling the entire country that LSU will have to shut down programs every legislative session is even worse for the school's reputation......

They have been renovating the main lobby in Pleasant Hall for months now. Was supposed to be finished by March 14th.. appears to be nowhere close to being done.
