LSU's endowment is also among the lowest on a per student basis -- along with the University of South Carolina -- in the SEC, according to Moret. The campus endowment totals about $420 million, and rises to about $800 million when money attached to some of its auxiliary institutions, like the Pennington Biomedical Research Center and LSU's medical campuses, are included.

LSU alumni are probably dead last in salaries too.

Sidewalk fans have more money

Doesn't surprise me at all after reading TD. A lot of LSU fans/alumni absolutely do not care in the least about LSU's academic side. They're actively against more state funding for LSU, so I'm sure that carries over to their donations or lack thereof.

Hey but we can come up with $15 million in a matter of 3 days !!

Personally I've stopped donating until the football shite show ends. I hung up on a caller from the alumni association this week seeking a year end donation.

We're dead last in football too

You mean to tell me the alums of the public college in one of the poorest states in the country don't do too hot on donations?
Surely you jest

This
I think a lot to do with is that the masses who post on this site never even went to LSU.

I graduated 6 years ago. I went to LSU as an out of state student and they have yet to call or send me mail asking for a contribution.

If LSU would get rid of the stupid head football coach, maybe they'd get more money donated by the alumni.

So let's spend $12 mil to buy him out and hire another proven coach for an even bigger salary. Rolleyes
Common people open up those check books and donate some money to the humanities and art colleges.

Yikes.
My wife gets stuff from her alma mater all the time. She donates the $16.93 they ask for, which is the year the school was founded.
I can't even recall if LSU did anything remotely creative to get donations. Nor can I recall the last time I was asked either.

Same for their law school.
It's a culture thing, really.
