That's pretty shitty. Last year I went to a marathon party and we were handing out beers, donuts, and bottles of water.

Who gives a shite?!

It's not like she got on a bike and rode through 10 miles.

She got paced by someone on a bike while receiving stuff. It says 5 times in the race rules for competitors no outside assistance. Those are the rules to be considered for the time trials

They don't care if the guy finishing the full marathon in 4:45 is stopping to shotgun your Bud Light. They care if those trying to win or qualify are receiving assistance from outside the course.

I'm sure they could DQ the 11 min/mi people but there's no incentive to do so. A lot of triathlons will assess a timed penalty for the non elites instead of a DQ so that they enforce the rules for everyone but don't completely erase your score.

When i run marathons, I wish someone would bring me drinks, food, etc. all the time. Those hydration stations seem to be so far apart by mile 20.

A white lady won the marathon? Damn no one must care about it since we don't get any Kenyans.

They overslept and missed the start.

I've seen it 1,000 times.

The rules for most races are that you can only eat/drink what you get from the official aid stations or carry with you from the start. There's all sorts of other stuff too related to people pacing for you.

It's a Boston certified course and can also be used as a qualifying time for Olympic trials. Got to play by the rules especially if you're in or near the front.

Bingo. Made this point Last night to some fb friends who don't follow the sport.

BR, with mild temp and flat terrain, stands to become a great winter marathon destination. Sanctioned races(times can be used to qualify for Boston/NY/Olympic trials) have the same rules in every city. She cheated. What she did creates an unfair advantage and would certainly not be tolerated in the Olympics. You have to carry your own fluids and nutrients. And you can't use rabbits(as earlier mis reported because she simply paced with a male racer).

She should be disqualified for causing all the shitty traffic yesterday. Extreme sports people are assholes
