The map does show that people obviously do move to Louisiana. It is just that largely Southerners moving here. Which I won't complain about

Have you been to New Orleans? It seems like (without exaggeration) at least 75% of the 20-35 year olds I meet are originally from New England, the West Coast, or the Midwest.

Yeah, I may be interpreting that part wrong.

I would move back to Louisiana if there is a job available comparable to my current job. Now that we have little ones, the urge to move back is becoming stronger.

Too many advantages to Texas for me to justify moving back. They said I will never be a "Texan"

Your circle of white college kids is a small drop in the bucket. The biggest effect on the numbers being the way they are is black populations. There has been no major migration of blacks since WWII. I would venture 98% of the black population of New Orleans are locals, then the white population is largely made up of seniors citizens not seniors at Tulane.

That's pretty accurate. Most of the young whites around NOLA grew up in Metaire.

This article is a little dated (written after the statistics of the 2000 census), but hits on a lot of points made on this thread.

We all know Vacherie is "God's country"!

Brain drain. That can't be good for the future of Mississippi if the college grads are leaving.

Probably not, but the only place I'd even consider living in is Oxford, and everything there rotates around the University.

I'm not moving anywhere that I can't attend LSU games on Saturdays, Saints games on Sundays, catch specs/yellowfin tuna out the same launch, and eat crawfish in the spring

I moved to the mid west, been here about a year. Born in Florida (15 years there) and 11 in Louisiana. Most people I talked to prior to moving thought I was crazy.

"How could you leave!?" Almost like people that grew up in LA were force fed the thought of never leaving, ever.
