72.09% total pass rate seems high or is that in line with recent tests?

Definitely high. Loyola made a HUGE surge this year. Southern improved a little up to 50%. LSU about where it normally is at 80%. I thought it was a little easier than the older ones I took while studying for it.

Those are good results for LSU, TU, and Loyola, in particular for the latter two. I guess there is no way to measure this, but I wonder if ending the "conditioning" aspect has made some students study harder? Pass-Fail is certainly more pressure.

Or, it could have been an easier test this summer.

Congrats to those who passed.

Yep no conditioning and they had a new system of scoring for this past test where the Code tests were worth 600 points total, the non code tests were worth 300, and you needed 650 to pass. So basically the official position of the Louisiana Supreme Court is if you don't know the Code then screw you. Which is great.

I personally think that overall it was slightly easier than the last few ones. But also, I think Tulane and Loyola are emphasizing bar prep more now. Which is good, considering how expensive those schools are. I think Loyola may actually have a stand alone bar prep class as part of their curriculum now. Maybe someone could correct me if I'm wrong there.

Also, you are correct in your first assertion... The desire to never ever take that test again was probably my biggest motivating factor. It worked.

The non-Code and LA CivPro were for sure a little easier, but Code III and BENI were terrible. Code I and II were about the same.

If by "Code tests" you're including Torts and La Civ Pro, it's been this scoring system for a few years now.

BENI and Code 3 were more difficult than usual. I crossed through Public Works Act notes and wrote "never asked, complicated, don't waste time" and then it was an exam essay. Everything else was pretty standard.

Loyola has a faculty member with responsibility to prep interested students for the bar, so it's great to see that's working. Tulane has not stressed the bar exam. It felt like a higher percentage of the top of Tulane's class stayed in state this year.

LSU used to have a Bar passage rate in the lower 90s and would pride itself on beating Tulane's rate. Do the Civilians need to restore order and set the school straight?
